I don't have the same dislike for Abbott as I did for Howard. It could be because of Abbott's training for the Priesthood. He has some deep rooted values which have some appeal, but yes he has to work on his oral communication. He has become an object of ridicule in the social media unfortunately because his comments are so old fashioned, but I don't think he would be able to change his style no matter how much he tried.

Kevin Rudd had the same problem (dry mouth, licking lips, poking tongue etc) but I didn't see him munch on an unpeeled onion!

Kevin Rudd is on YouTube eating his earwax in Parliament ...... it went "viral" at the time. Most uncouth of Kev. He'll never live it down.

Abbott eating a "brown onion" is not uncouth ... but ......? These people go into Politics, mostly for the attention, so surely they must expect to get pictures/videos of every little thing they do and say. I presume they all have extremely thick skins or they would be calling "bully" every 5 minutes.

Where did I show hatred and political bias? I offered an explanation as to why Abbott was eating an unpeeled onion. That was a very strange thing to do, but then perhaps he has a perception problem too and thought he was eating an apple. I feel some sympathy for him.
