$18 Million for school security

Schools will be given money for anti-terrorism security guards and CCTV in a first of its kind federally funded security initiative.

Fifty four schools around Australia will be given a part of $18 million earmarked amid growing fears a lone wolf terrorist attack will see education facilities targeted by extremists.

The program, part of a package to be unveiled by Federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan today, is the first time the federal government has funded security for schools, News Corp reports.

"This support recognises the unique security circumstances that some schools face," Keenan said.

"All our children have the right to be educated in a safe and secure setting."

More than half the schools to be given funding are Jewish and Islamic schools, while 22 are government and independent schools.

The majority are in Western Sydney, with 29 of the 54 in NSW.

The announcement comes after the Australian Federal Police called on teachers in November to be on the lookout for students who may be vulnerable to being radicalised.

There were fears terrorist sympathisers were trying to recruit students at East Hills Boys High in Sydney.

I have no idea. Is it politicians covering their butts or something else? Would, say, the Western Suburbs "mafia" be involved at all? Would there be Police involvement? It has happened before.

The moderate muslims no doubt need protection from attacks by redneck Aussies. The number of attacks against Muslims here is increasing. Muslims are in more danger here than the Jews. So much for our secular nation.

There have been at least 30 attacks on Muslims – mainly against women wearing the hijab – in the three weeks since the police anti-terror raids and threats by Islamic State put relations between the Islamic community and mainstream Australia on edge.

Muslim community leaders are compiling a register of religiously motivated incidents, which includes reports of physical and verbal assaults, threats of violence against senior clerics and damage to mosques.

They claim "mistrust" with police had led to the real rate of anti-Islamic episodes going unreported and the threat of segregation for women wearing the niqab into Parliament had licensed a new wave of people willing to vent against Muslim women in public in recent days.

We all know they make this crap up... we all know their defence is first to blame others and play the victim. BTW I hardly think a woman being harassed by a moron is the same thing as a terrorist attack.
