Before I left Sydney for good, I met an ex prostitute on DSP for, believe it or not, 'Drug dependence' (amphetamines). Apparently it qualifies as a disability.

She put this little old bloke through dramas constantly, but he put up with it because she was his meal ticket.

Being on a methadone program is not a good cause. It's taxpayer funded drugs to go with her taxpayer funded pension along with her taxpayer funded boyfriend on a taxpayer funded carers pension to drive to pick up her taxpayer funded drugs and pension cheque.

I know of several people who have abused the Carer Pension. It is easy to obtain if you have an elderly or disabled family member or friend. More often than not it is the elderly who get left in the lurch whilst some greedy family member or friend skims welfare on the pretence of being an aide.

It's greed pure and simple. Normal people want to help out their parents/family/friends because it is the right thing to do and not because they will get paid for doing it .. or pretending to. It needs to be cracked down on and hard.
