After the recent scare re- Hepatitis A infected frozen Nannas berries, what will our government do to ensure our imported food supply is safe?
Sorry, not good enough, this should never have happened.

The mind boggles why a country like us would ever need to import fruits of any kind.
I agree we should be much more stringent on what we import and from where.

Exactly, why should we need to import fruits and veg.
Our government needs to tighten food standards.
It's disgraceful.

I always try to buy Australian produce but with most packaged products we have no idea where it originates, and we should.

Exactly BO, even our tinned fish ie, tuna are only required to display catchment zones, (ie, area 345)...don't have to say where they are caught.
This is deceptive and misleading.
Since when did we the public become so nonchalant about food standards?
I think it happened so slowly, we just accepted it.
Again,not good enough.

Just because it's cheaper, doesn't mean we have to stand for it.
If every Australian demanded changes to our food standards this and boycotted foreign produce...we'd be a better nation for it.
Ok, we might have to regress to eating produce only seasonally, but we'd adjust.
