They might pass the conservative test, but they wouldn't pass in popularity. Morrison might be OK as a sidekick, but he's not PM material and Brough wouldn't get the votes.

A party won't function without a leader who isn't accepted by the electorate.

Abbott Stays. This was a no brainer and basic math. Its always great to see the looneys lose their nut over it though. Ohh the great build up and media beat up and what ? No crescendo.

I wonder if like last time Malcolm will lose his shit and threaten to retire from politics?

Or will he approach Labor again and ask for watermelon a portfolio?

Or will he seeth jealously from the angelic wings of Abbotts ministry until he's strong enough to strike again?

Turnbull is being blamed for Abbott's inadequacies by his supporters. A spill had to happen and it's pathetic how one man who had nothing to do with it is being blamed. Getting rid of Turnbull won't solve Abbott's problems.

Turnbull does what all leftards do, back-stab and lie through their teeth. He should resign and join the ALP or the Greens.

Bernardi started it - Bolt has run with it and Abbott's rusted on devotees are fuelling it.
In his Herald Sun blog, Bolt wrote:

“(Abbott) won more votes than he feared but fewer than he’d like.

“All that damage caused by Malcolm Turnbull and others - for this?

“You would assume Abbott has been given a last chance of some months.

“But Turnbull may do this maths:

Number of ministers, parliamentary secretaries and whips who were obliged to vote against the spill: 35. (Let’s assume none, even Turnbull, ratted in the semi-secret ballot.)

“Number of ministers, parliamentary secretaries and whips who would, if allowed, vote for Turnbull: say, 13:

“Add the 13 to the 39 who voted for the spill: 52.

“That is a narrow majority of the 102 Liberal MPs.

“But did all the 39 who voted for the spill want Turnbull? I know some preferred Julie Bishop. “There there’s the one informal vote and the Queensland MP, Ross Vasta, who couldn’t make it to the meeting.

“So what’s Turnbull’s next move? What’s Abbott’s?”
