It's appropriate for me at the moment as I'm trying to lose weight.
It's not going to sound like I'm trying to lose weight when I tell you today's menu though. :rofl
Kicked off with a bacon and egg roll when I finished work this morning after an overnighter.
I had a skim milk cappuccino with two sugars in it( true story at least I save some Calories on the milk. :rofl )
I didn't really eat lunch but I had a hot cross bun with a smattering of real butter on it about 2.30pm. I had a soda water with that.
I'm going to make fillet mignon for dinner wrapped in bacon with mustard ( yea I know it sounds like I do bacon a lot but today is the first time I've eaten it in a couple of weeks and I usually eat chicken or seafood.)
With that beef I am having broccoli and two baby red potato( I was going to buy sour cream to put on them but I put it back on the shelf).
I'll also drink two stubbies of Coopers tonight.
I might also have a lemon meringue cup cake after dinner given my wife is the kitchen making some as I type. :rofl
Good diet hey?

I have lost four and half kilo in the last six weeks with a goal of losing ten when I started. Today's not a normal day. But maybe I'll make a log of what I eat each day here to pour out my guilt when I stuff up. I'll be honest my sugar and beer habits were pretty ordinary I'd prefer five beers rather than one and putting two sugars in a coffee was cutting down.
Most days I have only been eating twice a day I used to always do this until a few years ago so I've reverted to doing that again.
You'll be fine. Didn't you give up smoking not so long ago? That is probably the reason for the weight gain. Your taste buds have returned.

I was lucky that when I gave up smoking back in 2007 I didn't gain any weight at all. I didn't change my diet either so that explains it.

I haven't eaten breakfast since I was a kid. I have a cup of coffee when I get up around 6 am and then I have something to eat around morning tea time, either a toasted cheese and ham sandwich or a plain chicken sandwich and another cup of coffee. Sometimes I have something to nibble mid-afternoon. When I get hungry again around 5pm or so I start cooking dinner then. At the moment I am having lots of salads with either cold chicken or a steak/fish. I don't do dessert but occasionally have a bowl of ice cream or some stewed fruit.

Yea I gave up smoking three years ago I've put on about ten kilo since that's why I'm on a diet. I used to get up and have a coffee and smoke for breakfast but when I gave up I started eating food for breakfast. It's only the last six weeks I've started not eating anything again for breakfast. I think my body responds better to no breakfast.
In fact if I eat it I find I'm hanging out for lunch more than if I don't.
Anyway no work today so I just went on my walk, I am trying to walk about four days a week now, 4 km, which takes me about forty minutes. Two cups of coffee and no food yet.

Good on both you and Nef for quitting smoking.... i'm still working on this. Down to 3 a day, and I only smoke them in halves.

Most people put on weight when they quit smoking for the reasons nef explained, and she's right about making sure you eat the same things as you used to before you quit because substituting smokes for food is what does it.

How much bread do you eat Skip... too many carbs will pack the weight on.

I make a point of not eating more than one slice of bread a day.

Ie...if I have toast for breakfast, i'll have rice cakes or corn thins for lunch.

If I have cereal for breakfast, then i'll allow myself one slice of bread/toast for lunch.

Also, I measure my cooked pasta for dinner, and won't allow myself any more than one cup.

It helps to measure it because it's easy to put too much on your plate.

Same with rice.

I only eat brown rice now, and either soy linseed bread or wholemeal.

It might seem restrictive Skip, but after a while, you adjust.

Hey, if you can quit smoking, you can do anything .. willpower wise. :Hi

Also, perhaps think about making an appointment to see a dietician.... if you talk to your GP, you are eligible for a special package that entitles you to 7 free consultations to see an allied health professional, ie, dietician, physio etc which is bulk billed, completely free for anyone, regardless of household income.

And take your wife to the dietician also...(this is a must) because she's the one who does most of the cooking right?

Shoved a pig up a cows arse and roasted it on a spit.
Skipped the coffee and went straight to banging an 8 ball of meth.

Not sure what I'm having for lunch.

Don't we all... and it's hard at first, but you get used to cutting them out of your diet.

Yes, I used to do the ciggie and a coffee for breakfast. When I gave up smoking 7 years ago, I just have a coffee and nothing to eat until mid-morning. It is eating first thing that makes you hungry again in a couple of hours, then a couple of hours later you are eating lunch! If you do that you should really only have a snack in the evening, not a full meal, otherwise you are consuming too many calories/kilojoules and will obviously put on weight, regardless of what you eat.

To lose a pound a week (0.45 Kilos) you need to cut down your calories by 500 (2092 kJ) per day. Also check the sugar content on the label of things such as "fat free" yoghurt and divide by 4 to get how many teaspoons of sugar there are in the item. The Gippsland 160G Yoghurt I have here states it has 27.0g of sugar .... that is 6.75 teaspoons of sugar! They have replaced the "fat free" with sugar!

I eat white bread. I used to eat Helgas but went back to Tip Top. I only eat 2 slices a day, if that, anyway.

Taking a daily constitutional (walk) is good for you but don't tuck into the food when you get back home.

Many years ago I worked with a young bloke who was training for the Olympics (weight lifting) and I caught him heating up pasta in the microwave for morning tea. I queried this and he told me it was to put on "bulk" .... i.e. FAT/muscles. So stay away from pasta if you don't want to look like a weight lifter. :rofl

I rarely eat pasta and if I do it is usually one of those frozen McCain Fettuccine Carbonara ones when I am in a hurry and starving hungry, usually in mid-Winter. I like potatoes, done any way, including chips. I don't find that they put on weight at all.

Oh, and I never drink Coke. I drink water mostly, no calories in water. ;)

I only drink water and tea ...( and sparkling wine mixed with soda water one evening of a weekend) these days, fruit juice is high in kilojoules, and the citric acid in it isn't good for your teeth anyway.

And Nef, if that guy training for the olympics was eating pasta to bulk up, this says it all then really doesn't it.

Do you like brown rice?

I love the nutty flavour and firm texture of it. Even if it takes a bit longer to cook.
