The Australian Ecconomy

Post by Super Nova » Tue Feb 03, 2015 4:40 pm

I heard on the news (BBC world) today that the Australian economy is now no longer the envy of the developed world and that the growth while the rest of the world was in slumber was envious, it is at an end. OK, I knew that. It also reported that interest rates will be cut by the fed Reserve. Ok.. no surprise.

Now the mining boom is over and we have taken all the manufacturing out of the country and we add no value to our products and just export raw material (dirt or produce) what the f..k is Australia going to do to ensure the lifestyle that Australians enjoy is there for the future.

What will we do when we have sold most of the land to foreigners who have cash.

What is your opinion on what will happen and what should be done?

I look at the forecast in the link below and don't believe it's forecast to 2050.

A smart dude once said... to John Laws on Radio 2GB, May 14, 1986......................

If this Government cannot get the adjustment, get manufacturing going again, and keep moderate wage outcomes and a sensible economic policy, then Australia is basically done for. We will end up being a third rate economy... a banana republic.

Looks to me like Paul was right....

Yes Tony has been saying that we would end up a 2nd rate country under continued Labor policy... reminded me very much of the Keating, Banana Republic line.

We have become a country which services the wealthy. Our hospitality and gambling industries are thriving and luxury health care to aging rich foreigners is creeping in slowly. Forget Australian manufacturing.

Reviving manufacturing here would probably cut our unemployment figures by half, but it's not going to happen - for Australians anyway. We have just signed up to an FTA with China. The Chinese can now come here and buy up as many of our struggling industries as they please. They can also bring in their own workers instead of employing Australians.

The government has already signed off to foreign workers being paid 10% less than the Australian award in the NT. This is the start of an overall decrease in Australian wages. Those who want to work will have to compete with foreign workers by accepting lower wages.

You will of course be backing that up with some facts right.

How about we give Abbott a chance to do his job.

We gave Rudd and Gillard the well deserved opportunity to fuck our economy, the least we can do is give Abbott the opportunity to TRY and fix it.

Asking too much?

This government needs all the positive encouragement we can give it.

But I doubt it'll get it.

What are you saying? That everyone should just shut up, and give Abbott a chance to do whatever the fuck he likes for 2 or 3 terms?

Because that's not what you guys did when Rudd/Gillard/Rudd/Gillard were in power. There was never a time you weren't bitching and moaning, so please spare me the sob story. When the fuckwit acts like a toading little fuckwit, he'll cop it (even though it's a small portion, compared to what nutbags like you dish out on a regular basis) :thumb
