Yes you don't see... that's been my point.
Another tunnel, another bridge, etc, etc, etc.... there are many other alternatives.

Re: NSW State Election
The true congestion problem seems to lie with people from the west of Sydney trying to get to the south of Sydney. They don't need to hook the North Shore up with Bankstown to tackle this.

Re: NSW State Election
The people West of Sydney going to South Sydney usually go via Parramatta Rd, Victoria Rd or the Freeway even those North West in pop dense area like Blacktown do that.
If you want to stop the influx of workers then companies need to go West... or South or North.

I did already say, I was against and didn't understand the Bankstown idea. I didn't agree with the Epping to Chatswood line either.Black Orchid wrote:The true congestion problem seems to lie with people from the west of Sydney trying to get to the south of Sydney. Re: NSW State Election
There would be quite a few Labor voters in the Bankstown area. Chatswood is that colourful now, I can't see why more people having quicker access to it would make any difference. Aside from that many workers today travel long distances to get to work and have two or three changes which can add half an hour or more to their commute. Life should be made easier for the workers too, not just the shoppers and residents.Rorschach wrote:, I was against and didn't understand the Bankstown idea. Most people in the West have no need to shop in Chatswood or Sydney or North Sydney.

They might have a need to work there though. There are a lot of offices in Chatswood, or there used to be. I haven't been there for a few years, but even then it was a hiving mass of people and they would have come from all areas of Sydney to work and shop. The roads are a nightmare and public transport isn't much better. Sydney needs a lot more rail infrastructure to get people off the roads.Rorschach wrote:Most people in the West have no need to shop in Chatswood or Sydney or North Sydney.

More at http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/support-falli ... 39iqh.htmlSupport for Premier Mike Baird's plan for the privatisation of NSW electricity assets has fallen, despite his promise to use the proceeds to fund $20 billion worth of infrastructure projects.
Mr Baird has announced that if reelected on March 28 he will privatise transmission company Transgrid and 50.4 per cent of distribution businesses Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy via a 99 year lease.
But a Fairfax/Ipsos poll reveals fewer than one in four voters - or 23 per cent - support the partial privatisation of the electricity "poles and wires".
This is a six per cent drop in support since the question was asked in the November Fairfax/Ipsos poll taken shortly before Mr Baird outlined the infrastructure that would be funded by his plan.
Opposition to the partial privatisation is up three per cent to 67 per cent.
When voters were asked their view if the proceeds were used to fund infrastructure projects in NSW, 47 per cent supported the proposal and 46 per cent were opposed, with eight per cent undecided.
This is an eight percent fall in support from November, when a small majority - 55 per cent - said they supported a partial sale under these conditions and 40 per cent were opposed.
Labor says it opposes the privatisation plan because it will lead to a reduction in annual dividends to the government from the electricity businesses and price rises.

The rationale for a western-harbour tunnel is to alleviate congestion in the CBD.

It's long over due.
Something has to be done about the traffic bottlenecks and CBD congestion.

I travel through the city quite a bit and I never find it that bad. Certainly not bad enough to support the privatisation of our electricity assets.
