All one will have to do is get off one train, walk 5 paces and get on another to the City. There is absolutely no way they could extend it to the City.

As far as I know this new RTS requires new signals, new stations and whatever else to accommodate it. As I said before, the Epping to Chatswood link has to be closed for 3-6 months to make the necessary changes.

How do you suggest expanding it to the City? Closing down the North Short train service for God only knows how long to make the changes? What about the trains coming from Hornsby via Chatswood then to the City? What would happen to them? They won't work on the new line.

Mine either but we have to live with it and tunnelling from Chatswood, then under the harbour, for the RTS isn't viable.

I don't like the idea of a fully automated system period.

There are other alternatives which do not require tunnelling.
Even if a tunnel may be the neatest option.

Well there is no room for more tracks on the Harbour Bridge and closing it down for months certainly isn't an option.

To take it further than Chatswood would entail renewing the whole of the Sydney rail system.

In case you didn't realise it there are only 2 ways to get across the harbour from Chatswood.

Over the Bridge or through the tunnel.

Well you are the one who's been talking about alternatives, not me. I just thought you may like to elaborate on what exactly these alternatives are. I have said several times that I don't see any viable alternatives.
