The NDIS is not fully funded and never has been... so who is telling lies? Hmmm?
Medicare Levy funding arrangements
The cost of the NDIS is being met in part by an increase in the Medicare Levy from 1.5 per cent to 2 per cent. This increase takes effect from 1 July 2014. There will always be a risk that collections from the levy are less than forecast, which will require the funding shortfall to be made up from other funding sources.

Just one of many sources which prove Macklin to be a liar or just plain dishonest.

I think this is how the Coalition is going to get a whole lot of people off the Disability pension. It's not going to be popular, especially as there are so few jobs out there, particularly for the young and those over 45. There was something on the news the other day about there being so many thousands of people a month applying for it, but they will no longer be able to use their own doctor - only the Centrelink doctors.
With unemployment benefits cut to the quick and more hoops to jump through to get it, Australians are going to be living in a very tough society.
The minister went further on Wednesday, telling News Corp that to achieve sustainability of the welfare safety net - "of which the NDIS is the holy grail" - sustainability in other parts of the system was needed.
That meant welfare reform to get "those who don't have to be on the system, could be off the system, should be off the system".
Opposition disability reform spokeswoman Jenny Macklin labelled the minister's comments as a "disgusting and cynical attempt" to cover the next round of savage welfare cuts.

There are many people who rort the DSP and many people fortunate enough to have a compassionate Dr who helps them obtain it because Newstart is so inadequate.
That doesn't mean that these people should not be taken off it. There are many "bad" backs out there or "depressed" people who get it, and shouldn't. It should be for those genuinely in need.
One thing that is better is that at least Drs will be checking people out and rejecting the frauds and not some bureaucrat who is mostly clueless and is a bean counter.

Younger people seem to be the biggest problem. These kids are writing themselves off by becoming dependent on the government for their income and will be in for a shock when they're told they're fit for work and get transferred to unemployment benefits. I agree that tighter controls have to be made on who receives these benefits, but still the government is going to have to get its act together and produce more jobs for Australians to compensate.

Australia is sounding more and more like America all the time ... and I don't mean that in a good way.

Surely even you wouldn't want this country to go down the path of the USA?

I don't know of any young people dependent on the government. I get dozens of young people flowing through my house weekly, friends of both my kids. Same goes for my friends' kids and their friends. They all work and/or study.
There is a huge problem in south western Sydney though where refugees and the big, strong, strapping children of refugees are dependent on government welfare. We all know who dominates south western Sydney and creating more jobs won't make one iota of difference there.
Sending tens of thousands of refugees out into the community and equipping them with welfare is the biggest problem we face. 5 years on and 85% still don't work. They collect disability yet they drive expensive souped up cars. Some rort, This is what needs to be addressed.

You think it's easier for young people to rort the DSP? Really mantra?
