Heigh-Ho! 2016 USA Election Thread
Is this actually going to happen for real? I get a raging boner just thinking about it. The two first families of the American democratic tragedy. The Montagues and the Capulets. The Yorks and the Lancasters. North vs South. The Starks and and Lannisters.
One family used its incredible wealth to obtain polical power, the other used its political power to obtain incredible wealth.
I can't wait for the despatches from the bloodstained floor of the campaign trail. This is going to be a doozy. 2016 Hiho!

Re: Bush vs Clinton
A country of 300 million is reduced to choosing between two political families? It is all about who can raise money, not who is the best candidate.

Re: Bush vs Clinton
It came as no surprise that Jeb Bush was going to be a candidate at the next election. It appeared obvious years ago when George was President and it became known that he had a little brother who was into politics that he would one day follow in his father and brother's footsteps.
Will he be worse than his brother if he wins?
Will he be worse than his brother if he wins?
But if his track record as governor in Florida is any indication, a Jeb Bush presidency is the last thing America needs.
In an era of rising inequality and the growing fortunes of dynastic families, it seems fitting that the country may be doomed to see another Clinton or Bush in power. At least when commentators compare Jeb and George W. Bush, they usually assert that Jeb Bush is the bright one, the actually compassionate one, the moderate — more like their dad, George H.W. Bush.
But many of us who saw up close the way Jeb Bush governed Florida hold a different view. His time in power showed him to be no less conservative than George W. Bush and sometimes quite a bit meaner. Although it is likely true that Jeb Bush is the smarter of the two, that only makes him a more formidable opponent for progressives.

Re: Bush vs Clinton
Jebbie seems too normal, too mainstream, too reasonable for today's Republican Party. That is one strike against him. Another is his business dealings: he will face the same problem Romney did but worse - he has 4 mysterious companies that no one knows much about. And he is married to a Mexican. That could help him with the Latino vote but the Democrats may have that all sewn up given Republican opposition to immigration. The Republican Party is full of racists who just don't like Mexicans and don't want to see one in the White House.

Oh sure, the GOP will roll out its usual cast of crazy motherfuckers and religious whacks during the primaries. It will be some entertaining shit, but you know Jeb will plow them over. His name alone will carry Texas and he is Florida's sweetheart, and those are pretty much the only states that matter to the Republicans in the primaries.
And he will probably smash Hillary too. Let's face it, she's got the name but she's no Clinton. Seriously, if anyone still gives a fuck about politics here is reading this, open another window and Google some video of Bill and Hill together. Bill is the velvety smooth Arkansas charmer, exuding sex and confidence. Hillary is a trembling, anxious wreck. She vibes New York and peptic ulcers. She is no Clinton, she willbe destroyed by Jeb.

Hillary is tired - you can see that written all over her. Still at 61 Jeb is no spring chicken. They're going to look at the candidate with the most energy.
He's got the red face of a drinker though.
Hillary is a few years older and might not manage a 4 year term, although anything is possible in the US.

Typical progressive bullshit. Ask not what would be good for the country, ask for that which will not be a formidable opponent to progressives.mantra wrote:It came as no surprise that Jeb Bush was going to be a candidate at the next election. Most of my American friends are Republicans and loathe Obama and Hillary. I haven't asked about JEB (John Ellis Bush) ... I wondered where the Jeb came from .... nor are they talking about him, yet.
Oh, and despite somebody with a bias, mentioning Jeb's "red face" insinuating he is a "drinker". Here is another of him, minus the red face. I can see him as POTUS.

Jebbie and Hillary are both corporate candidates who can raise the needed money. Elizabeth Warren is the kind of president America needs: a woman and a real progressive who would take on Wall Street and Big Banks.
