If Gillard had been given a bit of space - she would have done well. She started to come good in her last year, but Abbott attacked her relentlessly and he had the media on his side. He also made a lot more promises than she did and has broken at least 50% of them. He has turned out to be a prolific liar, where Gillard got called out on only one. As it turned out the Carbon Tax was a revenue raiser, but Abbott cut it loose.

Abbott is only getting a fraction of the negative media coverage Gillard got and he's falling apart already. What happened to the big tough pugilist? He probably needs some testosterone injections. He wouldn't have time to produce as much as he used to when he had all the time in the world for his cycling and surfing.

Treasury has borrowed $500bn not the govt ...........

It's because the previous govt racked up so much debt that the overhead borrowing power needed to be raised to deal with on going business of running the country.

Yeas, you don't hear mantra crying over the reason for the raised limit.

Never heard a peep from her when the ALP said they had an $18bn deficit that turned into $48bn!!

Its only now that excessive borrowing seems to worry her.
Fucking hypocrite

That is a pathetic excuse. In 2007 Labor walked straight into a shocking recession - the GFC. They kept the economy moving - even if it was slow. Howard's $29 billion surplus - lasted 5 seconds considering the ongoing costs the Coalition left Labor ie. baby bonus, family allowance, cash for immunisation, pensions for the wealthy - the porkbarrelling goes on.

Under Howard - there was no means testing. Labor had to try and break that stranglehold and got punished for it. Now Abbott comes in with his simplistic and ignorant view on how society should function and he's treading on toes. He's not the right person for the job. I said this when he first became opposition leader. He functions better when he's in the sun and exercising.

Are you saying that there is no association between the government and treasury?

Forget what happened under Howard! He left lots of money in the coffers. Rudd/Gillard went on a spending spree and left the country in the RED. Abbott has to pay off some of the bills PLUS keep the country running, otherwise we are up shit creek. Geeze.

Oh, and the GFC barely touched Australia. The countries where it did hit had housing prices crashing dramatically. Didn't happen here, which is a pity.

Because Rudd and Swan saved us from that, the only country at that time to come out of the recession in tact- if not imagine the shit pit we would be in now- convenient short memory hey?
The reason Australia came through the GFC in tact had little to do with Swan or Rudd.

In 2007/2008 Australia was debt free and had a surplus budget. It took Costello over 10 years to build us to a position of such economic strength. Europe and the USA were not in the same strong position as Australia because they were all carrying high government debt. Australia had no government debt and previous consistent budget surpluses and that is what saved us.

When the GFC hit we were in a very strong position. If the same thing were to happen now we would be in a very bad position.

Oh puhlease what a load of crap. Abbott, abbott, Abbott.... time to join the rest of us on planet earth mantra.
Gillard was woeful as PM. a great Deputy, but then the real Julia disappeared never to return. The media mantra is mostly LW prog.... BTW.
As for being a liar no one this century will be a bigger liar than Julia, that lie will end up on her gravestone. Not saying that it isn't repulsive and disrespectful etc, that we are saddled with a bunch of pollies that make lying a daily habit... and it isn't restricted to one side either.
BTW Abbott gets pilloried daily so please stop lying or see a shrink.
As for your hate rant... well you know how I feel about having to read that crap. :du
