Newborn Baby Found in Sydney Drain
A NEWBORN baby has been found, alive, in a 2.4 metre deep drain by a busy motorway in western Sydney.
Police have no idea who put the boy in the drain but are thankful he was found by passing cyclists who were riding on a bike track beside the M7 Motorway at Quakers Hill about 7.30am this morning when they heard the child cry.
Passers-by helped lift the grate and discovered a baby boy lying at the bottom.
Police who rescued him say he had no obvious signs of injury but has been taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital for checks.
Anyone with information about the baby’s identity or how he came to be in the drain is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

What's wrong with people nowadays? Surely they could have dropped it at a hospital, charity organisation, shop, house, vet etc ... anything other than dropping it down a 2.4 metre drain? Especially in this heat. Seems that they didn't want it found.
Deplorable thing to do.

How can you give birth and do that.
I expect it was a father or brother of the women in a shame killing..... you can hear it now. You have brought shame on our family..... bla bla bla.
Why is it so hard to drop the child off at a church, mosque or hospital.
They should be hunted down using the child's DNA and locked up after a lengthy public trial. Then they can know real shame... aussie style.

Shocking. This is where the baby was dropped through a small hole in the concrete top of the deep drain.

How can we expect humane treatment of animals when babies are treated like this.
It seems Community Service is very concerned about the distress of the parents. The baby could be handed back to them which is so often the case. We see this all the time. A child is returned to the neglectful parents only to be beaten to death a short while later.

Saved by cyclists. A very lucky baby.

No, not all the time. Occasionally. I can remember one such case.mantra wrote:We see this all the time. A child is returned to the neglectful parents only to be beaten to death a short while later.

There always seems to be an ongoing case in the Courts.boxy wrote:No, not all the time. Occasionally. I can remember one such case.mantra wrote:We see this all the time. A child is returned to the neglectful parents only to be beaten to death a short while later.
In the period from July 2008 to June 2013, 22 (20.9%) of the 101 children and young people who died were known to child protection services or had a sibling who was known to child protection services. Of these 22 children:
12 (54.5%) also had siblings known to child protection;
less than five1 were not known to child protection services, but their sibling was; and
the remaining children had no sibling involvement in child protection.
