Renewable energy target
Since when does 20% now equal a 40% reduction?
If you listen to the shit spewed on the ABC who obviously just ask the ALP what line they should push this week, a 20% target no longer means 20%.
How the fuck can these retards actually even contemplate running this line of fucking shit. The ABC needs to be fucking defunded immediately.
A percentage is exactly that. There is no room for leftwing fuckery.

The government was quick to pick up on that. Yes the previous government should have been more specific about their target and not put a percentage on it.IQS.RLOW wrote:Since when does 20% now equal a 40% reduction?

One thing it does show is that renewables and the carbon tax had a positive effect on reducing emissions. Using the 20% on current figures is definitely going to slow down any future substantial reductions. The government doesn't get brownie points for lagging behind the rest of the developed world though.

We can only hope Abbott doesn't get a second term. Not only has his pugnacious personality upset some of the most aggressive nations - he's tearing the guts out of Australia. He's not taking us back to the 60's - he's taking us back to the 20's. He's lost the plot. How bereft are we of anyone halfway decent leading this country. Even Shorten is starting to look good. The high stakes political standoff over the renewable energy target will freeze new investment, cause the collapse of existing projects and within a few years trigger a “penalty” provision that would hike power bills by three times as much as the now-repealed carbon tax.

Still always personal attacks from you eh.
You are writing crap re Abbott. You've lost the plot. Milne has lost the plot most of the Greens have lost the plot. Leave government to adults and all of you go back to the creche.
You want to post stuff post some facts for a change. I don't want to read your biased personal dribble.

Try and stay on topic Roach. What you think of me personally has nothing to do with politics. You're trashing the topic.

Re: Renewable energy target
Is Abbott a shag on a rock? Who's going to buy our coal considering Abbott's famous last words "Coal is good for humanity" and "Coal is the foundation of prosperity".
The Australian prime minister knew APEC was not going to be an easy meeting. Tony Abbott was expecting it to be tense when he "shirt-fronted" Russian President Vladimir Putin. But he wasn't expecting it would be the leaders of the United States and China who would leave him like a shag on a rock on climate change.
This is Abbott's most glaring ideological blind spot.
Just a day after he held one-on-one talks with US President Barack Obama, emerging with the President to field questions while looking increasingly at ease in the role, the American showed leadership on a grander scale again.
The US and China have agreed to new co-ordinated action described even in the conservative press as "a historic pact to reduce carbon pollution levels on the eve of the G20".
The timing was no accident.
Abbott had first attended the White House in June, making it clear in both word and gesture before the meeting that Australia would not be joining the gathering global bandwagon wanting tougher co-ordinated action on climate change. And he went further, directly repudiating White House and other international requests to have it listed on the G20 agenda. At Abbott's insistence it listed only as energy security. Imagine how that will look in a few years?

Everyone. Everyone will want to buy Our beautiful, life giving, prosperity enabling coal. Especially China and India.
That dementia must really be kicking in hard.

Re: Renewable energy target
Regardless of whether you believe in climate change or not - it's obvious the global markets are going to eventually embrace renewable energy over coal. Our coal exports are already in decline. China is demanding clean coal which means our water supplies will be compromised. Once we've signed up to the FTA with China, they will mine their own coal here and use their own workers. There will be little in it for us. We were once a clever country, but not anymore. We are going to flog our assets off to China for a pittance.
Thermal coal prices declined steadily throughout early 2014 in response to surplus supply, with Newcastle free on board spot prices averaging US$73 a tonne in the first eight months of 2014, down 16 per cent year on year," BREE said.

Re: Renewable energy target
All mineral commodities have experienced an ôversupply and dropping prices, not just coal.
Renewables will never be adopted over coal until they are as cheap and reliable as coal is. When renewable technologies stop being manufactured using fossil fuels, then you may start seeing change. Until then, all it is, is an expensive experiment designed to make idiots feel good.
