Re: Friendly harassment
When I am out walking I do get whistles and horns tooting from young hoons in cars. They have no idea how old I am and, as I and slim, have long dark hair, wear jeans and sunglasses, from a distance I must look "young" as I stride along. It makes me smile as those blokes would feel very foolish if they knew how old the person was that they were "harassing" with wolf whistles.mantra wrote:Some people as they get older still see themselves as attractive as they were a couple of decades ago and won't face the reality that they're no longer a spring chicken.
Perhaps they think you look like you would be a good cook/housekeeper?mantra wrote:it's been a long time since a male whistled at me...... Now I'm lucky if I get the occasional older man eyeing me off or smiling at me in the supermarket, but I'm happy with that.

The comment wasn't directed at females, but generally at some males who seem to have the biggest problem accepting that they are no longer young and sexy. Unless they've got a lot of money, they usually don't have much of a chance at finding young love.
That is probably true. I definitely have a motherly look about me these days, but I don't mind. I've had my share of attention from males in the past and enjoyed it. Now it's my daughter's turn, although most of the time she's oblivious to it.Perhaps they think you look like you would be a good cook/housekeeper?mantra wrote:it's been a long time since a male whistled at me...... so you deny being a snarky, jealous, bitchy female?
It's the MEN who are the problem, right?

Re: Friendly harassment
In Australia 'wolf whistling' a female was made legally 'sexual harrassment' since the 80's.
This is a hard call. I believe that if a male wolf whistles (for example) and has sincere 'follow through' with more effort from then on ...eventually flowers, nice dinner, etc. Then it is very justified.
But as always, there are other's that spoil everything and just wolf whistle more to impress their mates and their own ego's than the woman herself.
Take in effect that in the USA, women are more interested in sex for having children, hence why their population grows more naturally, than the need for immigration and hence why their population is wayyyyyyyyy more than ours. While here in OZ, women are more interested in 'money/career' (and I don't mean via the male as in USA) and hence our population barely ticks over. Pre-80's - we needed immigration a lot! Don't believe me? Germain Greer, the Gina Reinhart (Gold digger), Julia Gillard (Over-achiever Powermonger), Quentin Bryce (being British for cultural superiority).
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against women who desire and seek such in life. The character of 'Ripley' in the Alien movies is my favourite female character.
But lets face it, in USA - even I could get lucky for a threesome. Whereas here - when it comes to women
Maybe that's why in USA - they behave as such? So many women 'would' take one of those men home?
I also believe that people, even streeties like them, kinda react to a person accordingly and with everyone having a secret "What have I got in my pocket?" (like a camera upon her) - she kinda attracted the appropriate response.
That's why I never fully take these 'secret camera' things seriously as the 'best' example. Because people know or react accordingly to those who 'fake it' with a camera or for a camera.
I consider this a form of 'entrapement' on her part.
Go to India, Phillipines and Mexico and most people would be asking her for money.
In a way, some of those men were too.

Re: Friendly harassment
She could go to Italy and find the "harassment" more physical and in your face.
