A "captains pick" of the whorish kind, but just goes to show the type of person who can reach the top echelons of the ALP- and what a shallow pool of talent it must be.

That the former ALP PM could pick a woman of this calibre to be a senator just shows the calibre of ALP voters that she would represent.

The ALP and its supporters are nothing but filth personified.

What a pathetic beat up. Peris was working for Athletics Australia at the time Bolden was brought out here. She was an ambassador for them and had every right to help bring out Bolden, a four time olympic medal winner. He did what he was paid to do and the money wasn't sourced from the unsuspecting taxpayer as inferred by the media.

So what if she was having an affair with him. She wasn't a politican at that time. It is also illegal for anyone to hack into a person's email account - so when she and Bolden take legal action, hopefully the newspaper in question will be held accountable for their maliciousness.

The Northern Territory News claims to have obtained explicit email exchanges between Senator Peris, who at the time was an Athletics Australia ambassador and communication officer with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, and Boldon, the four-time Olympic medal winner from Trinidad and Tobago.

Senator Peris had personally selected Boldon for the 10-day "Jump Start to London" program, and she sought funding from Athletics Australia and other sources to bring him to Australia.

But the newspaper claims Senator Peris, who at the time was married to Australian sprinter Daniel Batman, exchanged emails with Boldon in which they discussed their impending affair.

It's the Murdoch gutter press who is responsible for this. As Turnbull said in defence of her (and this is why the moderates like him), they could have achieved their objective about the money without publishing unnecessary personal information.

Newspapers went too far in publishing salacious personal emails between Labor senator Nova Peris and Trinidadian athlete Ato Boldon, Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull says.

The NT News and other News Corporation Australia newspapers first published explicit emails between Senator Peris and Boldon on Wednesday.

The stories suggested that Senator Peris had used a position at Athletics Australia in 2010 to secure government funding for Boldon's visit Australia so they could pursue an affair - an allegation Senator Peris denies.

Mr Turnbull, a former journalist with The Bulletin, said he was a strong supporter of press freedom but that he believed the media overreached by publishing so much detail from the emails.

"I wonder whether it mightn't have been better to perhaps be more discriminating in what material was made public there," Mr Turnbull told the ABC on Friday.

"Could the issue have been pursued with less of the personal and, for Nova Peris, very humiliating information being published?
"There are a lot of issues there. I am not the editor in chief of the NT News.

"I am not the Press Council. I am an old journalist or a former journalist, and there's always issues of judgment there and I just felt that there was perhaps more of the personal in that correspondence that was published than was needed to pursue the public interest question they were raising."

Is he the Liberal Minister who was busted recently when he dipped his penis in red wine and sent a photo of it to his girlfriend? He was married - Peris was separated from her husband at the time. He was a Minister - Peris wasn't a politician back then.

Yes - it would have been extremely embarrassing for him, but I didn't know that the content of his emails were disclosed. It wouldn't have been necessary anyway because the photo alone would have been self explanatory.
