Methane is a worse GHG than CO2, and shitloads exist in the permanently frozen tundra, tundra that is starting to thaw out.

Re: GW and methane
Indeed ... that's one of the main reasons I spat the dummy when quitting the Greens. Veg nazis within the party were blaming cow burps and farts for melting the planet down in their "let's blame meat and trash the beef industry" guilt campaign. When in fact 20 Mt of bovine generated methane from both domestic and wild cattle (globally) pales into insignificance compared to the literally Gt of methane currently coming out of the sea floors (as reported by the Russian and Swedish navies in 2007) and the tundra permafrosts.
20 Mt of methane is also bugger-all compared to the 4,700 (2007 figures, rising 2%+ per year) Mt of CO2 generated by coal fired power stations. Multiply 20 Mt of methane by 25 to reach CO2 equivalent of 500 Mt of CO2.
Y'see methane [CH4] is roughly 25 times worse as a GHG than carbon dioxide [CO2], but nitrous oxide [N2O] and nitrogen dioxide [NO2] are roughly 250 times worse as a GHG than CO2.
Y'know how cars are fitted with catalytic converters to supposedly reduce pollution? ... well catalytic converters release nitrogen dioxide [NO2].
At the moment veg nazis and/or vegan fundamentalists have managed to get halfwit news reporters to repeat their falacial claims that the beef industry causes more environmental damage and uses more water than vegie industries. Both claims are not simple mistakes, they are deliberate lies. Cattle do damage ecosystems a bit, but orchards and small-crops wipe ecosystems out completely. Cattle do not cause aquifer and ground salinity, small-crops do in a big way. Cattle do not suck rivers dry, orchards and small-crops do on a massive scale. Cattle do not pollute water ways anywhere near the amount orchards and small crops do. Cattle do not cause mutant fish off our coast, orchards currently are. Cattle are not causing destruction of the Great Barrier reef, sugar plantations are.
By the way, in my ratbag opinion, none of the so called experts [meteorologists/climatologists] are admitting how bad the melt down is. I've gone through heaps of stuff regarding the 3 global floods since the end of our last ice age, 18,000 years ago. I don't believe the oceans will rise by 50-100 cm withing a century. By my reckoning we've got about 8 years before everything goes to $#!+ (that includes massive aquifer and ground salinity from underground saline intrusion - entire cities will crumble) and the oceans will rise in the 10s of metres within 20 years or so.
