Whole of language is what has been taught instead of phonics and it has failed spectacularly.
I've made a mistake and got it back to front.

I baulk at the use of the term myself mantra, I believe we have a secular democracy and that religion should be taught in church or the home but not in schools which I too believe should be secular and concentrate on learning the basic skills.

But I doubt very much the report is talking about indoctrination students in religion.
perhaps you should read the report.

One might need to ask have religious groups has too much of a say in the formulation of the report and is this justified or is it a backlash to the anti-religious, progressive push over the last 40 years in Education.
