Who knows. The hatred for Muslims doesn't just apply to the right, they are just more vocal about it. We are bereft of decent political parties who could try to handle this situation calmly and not be divisive. Shorten is agreeing with Abbott and going along for the ride because like all ambitious politicians he's a populist. He knows the majority of Australians are fearful too and it wouldn't be good for his career if he opposed Abbott.
