This is your forum you should have input as to how it operates. Any suggestions that are positive are welcome here.
I notice mantra comment it would be good if the politics forum was a little less abusive and a little more constructive and I think it's a good idea.
Comments and others input on this and other matters is welcome.

Re: Open discussion
I think it would be good to put people that have slagged this place off and abused the local posters here for the past year, here and elsewhere, on probation so they prove there worth in not abusing admins and mods and the locals. This would show that they are actually serious about participating rather than running around abusing people and getting the locals to return that abuse in kind. Mantra has hardly posted here this year and sat on monks blog dissing the place. Monk has since hid the thread.
I know you want old members to come back and that's fine so 10,000 olive branches have been handed out already to Aussie, George and Mantra and all have been thrown back in PA's face abusively. Now magically they all want to post here after abusing PA on monks blog and locally here. If they want to post here probation is a good idea so they can prove their seriousness about what they say, and it is not just to piss off the locals. When I first came here all I did was get abused by mantra first , I never even knew her and thought she was just a troll, so from my perspective her suggestion is a bit hypocritical but if she has changed her ways I am open to that. No abuse and constructive posts are good everywhere not just politics. Not just politics.
If they are serious, going on probation for them should be no problem.
I think the locals would feel better about it as well, its not like we haven't read their dissing of this place and posters here and put up with constant talk downs.
Hopefully in return we get some real debate and discussions and no more nonsense and a good community going.

Re: Open discussion
Abuse is subjective and PA does definitely need some cleaning up but whilst some abuse is right out there and 'in your face' there are other forms it takes here by way of provocative posts which incite abuse and also constant, more passive, put downs whereby it is hoped the recipient of the put downs will hurl abuse and therefore can be reported.
Neither form is better/worse than the other.
You cannot poke a bees nest and expect not to be stung.
So, in order to clean up the 'in your face' abuse the passive and provocative put downs also need to be addressed.

In the spirit of good will and a new admin that isnt Aussie, I will try and tone down the level of abuse that detractors deserve to a dull roar, an occasional headbutt and a spittle flecked spray of derision.
Sly and snide passive aggressive behaviour will get the full force of my sweetly laced opinion.

Re: Open discussion
That's a great start, I hope you mean it because if you can do that even if it's confined to the politics board that could go a long way towards attracting other posters.IQS.RLOW wrote:In the spirit of good will and a new admin that isnt Aussie, I will try and tone down the level of abuse that detractors deserve to a dull roar, an occasional headbutt and a spittle flecked spray of derision.

Let's see if some of the people on the other end of your abuse agree to do the same. It is not in monks interests for this place to thrive so I don't expect the likes of him to play ball. Maybe he and Aussie may prove me wrong. The balls in their court and everyone can see that the current posters here are genuinely trying to be cooperative.
Re: Open discussion
Come on. This place is not a bee's nest or the traditional bear in the 'poking' story. It is presently, generally, a field of wet lettuces who would not know a political debate if they were living with it. This is PA......abuse as part of a post, and not the essence of the post, is part of the territory. What is not part of the territory is the pure vulgarity, the obscenity, the forgery, the violence to female genitalia and the absurd assumption of ownership of the place. That has to be slapped down by Admin and the Members generally.Black Orchid wrote:Abuse is subjective and PA does definitely need some cleaning up but whilst some abuse is right out there and 'in your face' there are other forms it takes here by way of provocative posts which incite abuse and also constant, more passive, put downs whereby it is hoped the recipient of the put downs will hurl abuse and therefore can be reported.

If you cannot handle the subtle and cleverly framed abuse which is traditional to the place, then that's tough. Reacting to it by 'upping the anti' into the kindergarten 'gross' simply demonstrates pure dumb and stupid, a complete lack of smarts, and drives people off.
There are a couple here who would never support me while they are vertical, but their conduct, I regard as totally acceptable. (Mind you, they are also as dumb as dog shit on politics, and how it works.) What is not acceptable is that they stand by mute while others of their 'side' reduce PA to a sewer.

Incapable of reasoned discussion as expected.
Get rid of this nut he is clearly here to keep undermining PA due to sour grapes.
You may have more luck with mantra and dare I mention George.

Re: Open discussion
Well I was right about Aussie,at least everyone can see his attitude in not wanting to make things work. No body, least of all me , is calling for an OZ pol forum. I was just agreeing with mantra suggestion that we could make a greater effort in the politics board to discuss the subject rather than the hunch back of the person you were arguing with. Poltics is about arguing your own point and if it gets a bit argy bargy so be it. We were just discussing the possibility we could make a better effort in the politics board. IQ is man enough to admit he could make a better effort, is he a bigger man than you,Aussie?
Re: Open discussion
How were you 'right' about 'Aussie?' My post contained positive suggestions and some advice on what I believe is needed. That is my opinion, and you are always going to get it. You have a natural right to at least that much from me and all the other Members.skippy wrote:Well I was right about Aussie,at least everyone can see his attitude in not wanting to make things work. Of course NOIQ is a 'bigger man' than me. Isn't that obvious? His record of being banned everywhere clearly establishes so and is exemplary. The proof will be in the pudding.
