Care to address the facts in my post? Not that domestic political considerations are ever entirely absent from government decision making—e.g. Howard sending troops to Iraq was him crawling to Bush as was Hawke sending a limited contingent to Gulf War 1.

Howard has recently confessed to being “embarrassed” by the fact no WMDs were ever discovered in Iraq. Lying Rodent should have been mortified by that failure—any newspaper reader (I exclude the Daily Telegraph from the description of “newspaper” as it is but a propaganda rag) would have known that Saddam had given up on WMDs years ago and Hans Blicks and his team had not found any prior to the war.

In your case and the ad hom you produce Monk, let me say this...

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Best you post facts that you can substantiate than repeat biased or conspiratorial dribble. Or don't you know the difference.

Obvious roach has trouble with posts that try and deal with complicated situations like ISIS. I knew IQ would not have a hope in hell of making a considered reply.

Your source information is based on conspiratorial crap.
It is coming from the same original source that ME Monitor a hugely biased website get their propaganda from.

For example their latest crap says the US did not invite Iran to the fight so to speak. Yet Iran was invited and turned the US down. The question is Monk do you believe the truth or the lies.
American and Iranian leaders tussled Monday afternoon after Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said he rejected overtures from the United States to join its coalition aligned against the self-proclaimed Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).
'The American ambassador in Iraq asked our ambassador [in Iraq] for a session to discuss coordinating a fight against Daesh,' Khamenei said, referring to ISIS by an alternate name in quotes carried by the state-controlled news service IRNA.

'Our ambassador in Iraq reflected this to us, which was welcomed by some [Iranian] officials, but I was opposed. I saw no point in cooperating with a country whose hands are dirty and intentions murky.'
Iran has also claimed U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry asked Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif if his country would join the Obama administration's anti-ISIS coalition.

Facts repeated on many sources globally.
Not from some tin pot wannabe site, that espouses conspiracies and propaganda.

As for your other views on the situation, this from the Iranian president himself.
Rouhani painted a bleak picture of the political landscape in the Middle East. "I am coming from a region of the world whose many parts are currently burning in the fire of extremism and radicalism," he said. "To the east and west of my country, extremists threaten our neighbors, resort to violence, and shed blood. They, of course, do not speak a single language, they are not of a single skin color, and not of a single nationality; they have come to the Middle East from around the world. They do, however, have a single ideology: violence and extremism."
Rouhani emphasized that the campaign against extremism should be taken on by countries in the Middle East, not by Western powers. He said that Islamic nations must take the lead in fighting the threat, but he welcomed help from the international community. "The right solution to this quandary comes from within the region," he said, "in a regionally provided solution with international support, and not from outside."
Iran whose past President stated that Israel would be wiped off the map. Would not flinch at blaming them if the case could be made. even if it factually couldn't. But the president did not. instead we have rumors from a disaffected Iranian military blaming Israel for ISIS. When clearly the truth is much different and acknowledged by the President of Iran and many others the world over.

And the relevance of all that?

Iran is already involved in fighting ISIS anyway—sunny–shiite antagonism.

I just tried to show the situation is not simple and what the correct response should be takes some effort to work out. The invasion of Iraq by Bush made things worse and more complicated.

I wasn’t presenting answers, just trying to work out what is best in a complicated situation. If the US was to arm the Kurds then Turkey would act up—the tinpot, hole in corner ME politics and intrigues.
