Assange to leave Ecuadorean embassy ‘soon’



Julian Assange has claimed he will be leaving the Ecuadorean embassy “soon” after two years of deadlock which has cost about £7 million in policing.

Mr Assange, 43, played down reports of his declining health and claimed that a recent change in UK law was brought about in response to his case and would assist in ending the deadlock over his extradition to Sweden.

A press conference at the embassy in Knightsbridge, central London, was arranged this morning amid speculation that Mr Assange planned to surrender himself to police.

I'll make an exception and make a post in PA Politics. There is no way things are still as they were two years ago. Something very fundamental has altered in his favour, at least as he sees it. That has to mean that the USA have given some sort of very clear assurance.....or their Grand Jury has been extinguished and there is no potential indictment on which the Swedes could send him to the USA. I'm convinced Assange genuinely does not give a stuff about the sex allegations which are extremely petty at best......so logically.....this recent statement by him must mean there is no longer a threat to him from the USA because he spilled their beans.

I agree. Also from the article there appears to have been a change in the law in the UK as a result of this affair.

There is a change that is coming down on his side as you say. Would not surprise me that the US have softened as well otherwise the poodles would not be making these changes.

That part of the Times link (which appears) contains no reference to any change in the UK. Probably because they want us to pay so we can see the entire Article.

Assange is merely an interesting political/legal matter to me. As a person, he can get fucked as an egocentric idiot with a massive Messiah complex compounded by victimhood which I am sure he hopes will make him some sort of m-artyr leading at least to deification.
