He is in the Dock and relating his relationship with his wife, Allison (whom he is accused of murdering in 2012)... since he first met her in around 1995. He must be driving the Jury to distraction. He is accused of MURDER and he is/was telling his Life Story. Check it out.

Abbott is the first outside of Britton to poo poo the Scottish independence idea and referendum. The UK will be weakened by the scotts thinking they can go it along. They will not make it without continual assistance from England.

It's all an evil plot to weaken England by the Euro Nazo's but the unintended consequence is an even mor eweaken ally if the US.

What do we think about such and statement..... good on him.

Salmond blasts Abbott’s ‘bewildering’ intervention

Australian prime minister Tony Abbott’s pointed intervention in the Scottish independence debate has been blasted as “bewildering” by the SNP.

“Tony Abbott has a reputation for gaffes, but his bewildering comments have all the hallmarks of one of the Westminster Government’s international briefings against Scotland,” a spokesperson for First Minister Alex Salmond said.

“Mr Abbott has put his foot in it.”

Speaking to The Times, Mr Abbott said Scottish independence would be a victory for the enemies of freedom and justice and that a win by the Yes campaign would be cheered abroad by countries that opposed British values and influence, while an independent Scotland would make little positive impact on the world stage.

“What the Scots do is a matter for the Scots and not for a moment do I presume to tell Scottish voters which way they should vote.

“But as a friend of Britain, as an observer from afar, it’s hard to see how the world would be helped by an independent Scotland,” Mr Abbott said.

“I think that the people who would like to see the break-up of the United Kingdom are not the friends of justice, the friends of freedom, and the countries that would cheer at the prospect . . . are not the countries whose company one would like to keep.”

The Australian, who attended Oxford University for two years, is the first British ally to make such an outspoken comment on the referendum, and the first to cast it as a contest between Western liberalism and its enemies.

This was staunchly rejected by Mr Salmond’s spokesperson:

“Scotland’s referendum is a model of democracy, which has been cited as such internationally, including by the US Secretary of State. An independent Scotland will be a beacon for fairness, justice and co-operation in the international community - and a great friend of Australia.”

The Scottish Green Party have also waded in, describing Mr Abbott’s comments as “ludicrous.”

Tony Abbott said:
“As a friend of Britain, as an observer from afar, it’s hard to see how the world would be helped by an independent Scotland,” Mr Abbott told British newspaper The Times on Saturday.
Obama said last month:
Mr Obama last month backed the union saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
Kevin Rudd, said:
Former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd in March used an address at Oxford University to suggest Scotland’s push for independence was flawed because it benefited from being part of the United Kingdom.
The Chinese Premier said:
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, during a visit to London in June, also said he wanted a “strong, prosperous and united, United Kingdom”.
I wonder who else they have asked?

Hmmmm.... not much to do about Tony abbott at all really is it.

What Britain does and Scotland does is their own affair I hardly think Tony's thoughts on it matter one little bit any more than mine do. And I have Scottish ancestry.

Obviously. :P Most threads go Off Topic. This is Life. Conversations in Real Life do too .........

I have Scottish Ancestry too but no living relatives over there. I do have a Scottish friend on the Isle of Bute and I daren't ask her about this .... might get my head bitten off ... she's a VERY lefty type and I am amazed that we have remained email friends for 18 years because we TOTALLY disagree on so many subjects.

There we go ... OFF TOPIC yet again since you, Rorschach, bought up your Scottish ancestry.

Well while we were at it, being off topic, I looked for the most appropriate thread to post this and a comment by Abbott looked appropriate to put in a thread titled "Tony Abbott".

Next you will pick on my appalling grammar :rofl
