Horrible cold wet winters day in Adelaide
Farout! Got up a bit too late to choof off to Farmers Market so left a bit early for dog obedience club. Did a bit of running--fast pace--but couldn't get warmed up. Shot back home, luckily only 5 min drive away, and grabbed a coat. Back to obedience club, time for lesson.
That done, off to help with a largish Grade 2 class. Instructor got me to do the calling "Forward, down your dogs, about turn" etc" as it was windy I was told to speak loudly. heh, produced a bellow that started half of them Grade 2 is a very junior class but I wanted to get across a couple of hints to assist the handlers have better control. Told them dogs have pretty crap vision, to just move their left hand in a small arc finishing with hand just in front of dog's nose. Also kept at them to keep the pace up, no point giving your dog time to think up ways of getting up to mischief Gratified to see that after a few tramps up and down pretty much all dogs stand and stay standing. Similarly with the drop, no need to start with hand 3 metres up in the air swinging past dogs' noses at half the speed of light and that arm shouldn't swing at all as dog would follow handler's hand when dropping and so would not drop straight. Didn't quite get as far as I would have liked, but there was a real improvement.
Throat sore from the shouting headed of to Farmers Market. Managed to get more than i thought, filthy wet cold windy weather keeping people indoors I guess. Got half a nice firm red cabbage, real Dutch winter food, will see if I can get recipe--Red cabbage needs at least an hours cooking, usually with a tomato or onion to provide a bit of acid.
Now sitting in study, looking out at cold, dull windy day. Want to get milk to make a nice big mug of cocoa but don't eel like venturing out

Count yourself lucky. I want to go out and get some food but I'm trapped at the moment due to horrendous footy traffic.
Re: Horrible cold wet winters day in Adelaide
Hmmmm yeah, bet they wished they stayed home & watched the match on the telly!
Re: Horrible cold wet winters day in Adelaide
never been to a footy game..but often thought better to watch it home..
Im told its all about atmosphere, so I want to go to match at some point and soak up the experience.

Nothing special about going to a footy game Auzgurl. The norm is you sitting in a seat between two fat stinky lardarses spilling sauce from their pies all over your pants and some odd lady at the front screaming "Carn the (insert footy team here) woooooooooooooooo!!!!". And don't even think about getting up during the game to go to the toilet because you will have to try to get through 20 idiots along the row and, one by one, they're all saying to you as you pass them "hey watch it, hey watch it, hey watch it, move, hey watch it". You end up feeling like Basil Fawlty.

Sounds great Celly...you have really whetted my appetite now..maybe a couple of drinks could highlight the experience.?Celetina wrote:Nothing special about going to a footy game Auzgurl. The Bulldogs ag, I have for all my life, we are probably better known in your part of the world for our off field stuff but we're a good team.Auzgurl wrote:skippy wrote:You girls should get along to a rugby league match, league supporters are much nicer than that celi.

Having said that we got the wooden spoon last year, the first time since the 1950s, but we are leading the comp this year, I reckon we can go all the way.
If we manage to win the comp this year it will be the first time since 1934 that a team wins the comp having got the wooden spoon the previous year.

Rugby Union is better - if you're lucky you're the only supporter on the sidelines.skippy wrote:You girls should get along to a rugby league match, league supporters are much nicer than that celi.
The better I get to know people, the more I find myself loving dogs.
