Total public sector employment has fallen very significantly over the neo-liberal period, from more than a quater of the total workforce in 1970 to around 13% today (ABS data which I will now have to scratch up ). Doesn't exactly add up to an "army".

They forget that public sector workers - like all others - are consumers and spend what they are paid back into the private sector and that the private sector alone has NEVER been able to employ all those seeking work - which suits the neo-liberals just fine. Fucking NAIRU is bullshit.
