To me the terms progressives and conservatives are misnomers.

So called progressives typically institute more restrictions. To me that's regressive.

So called conservatives have no desire to conserve, they're addicted to exploitation.
Exploitation is fine so long as they own what they exploit, rather than pilfering someone else's.

Depends on one's perspective I spoze.
I wouldn't classify myself as such.
Although like elites or royals of the old world, I recognise a need for wild places where one can indulge in primeval practices, like hunting for example.

The last 2 generations of my family bred or breed cattle and horses. Half my working life was in manufacturing, and the other half in agriculture.
I'm well aware without mining and petro-chemicals we would not have the technologically advanced lifestyles most of us currently enjoy.

But if I was an (petroleum) oil barron, I wouldn't waste my resource on burning it for fuel, I'd sit on it till worth a fortune as the pre-requisit for essential chemicals.

Paint me any colour you like, I've been refered to as Redneck and Pinko, but why should I care? They're just labels, and IMO not very accurate ones.
