This little crisis should not be under-estimated in the future of world affairs. This could lead to something quite bad for all of us if this goes wrong. A new Vietnam........ needs some serious attention and Russia is about to flexs it's muscle. President Barack Obama vs Putin to see who wears the big girls blouse.

Russia admits that it has moved troops in Ukraine

Russia has finally confirmed that it has moved troops into Ukraine's restive Crimea region, after speculation about Moscow's involvement

And here it is. The US start to rattle the saber while Russia just pulls it out of it's sleeve.

Ukraine: Russia launches 'armed invasion' as Obama warns Moscow of 'costs' of intervention

Russian troops and gunmen in unmarked uniforms fan out across Crimea, seizing two airports in an apparent bid to assert dominance over the region. President Obama warns Russia there would be “costs for any military intervention.”

President Barack Obama plunged into the crisis in Ukraine last night, warning Russia there would be “costs for any military intervention” and that “any violation of Ukrainian sovereignty would be deeply destabilising”.

Speaking in an unplanned appearance at the White House, President Obama warned Russia against threatening Ukraine’s territorial integrity via Crimea.

“Any violation of Ukrainian sovereignty would be deeply destabilising, which is not in the interests of Ukraine, Russia or Europe. It would represent profound interference in the affairs of the Ukrainian people and a violation of international law,” President Obama said last night

Not sure what consequences that Obama is warning Russia about ... the US has few direct ties to Russia and the US isn't going to intervene militarily .. but certainly the Russian action in the Ukraine will only further destabilize other former Soviet republics.

Thanks to NATO, Obama or any sitting US president is pretty much contractually obligated to say something when the Russians muck about in Eastern Europe. If anything, it reassures the Germans. For some reason they still get nervous whenever the Red Army so much as farts with in a 1000km of their eastern boarder.

"Barack has told President Vladimir Putin that Russia has violated international law with its incursion into Ukraine, and warned of US and allied reprisals"
