Their occasional unruly behaviour is a result of the culture which has been allowed to develop? The leaders should be trying to nip this in the bud the moment it occurs - they must be aware of it. These sort of problems have been occurring for decades.

I think the point is that the ABC should not lie or create lies or report as fact hearsay from unsupported sources.
No one has claimed that the Navy should be above reproach.
The sources quoted are corrupt Indonesian police who were never on board, illegal criminal boat people who have a vested interest, and in many cases absolutely no credibility. Prior to the latest claims a ME illegal claimed that sailors threw shoes at them and beat them with shoes... well it may be a ME custom but it ain't an Australian one nor one I suspect that our navy uses.
