USSR and USA arm Indonesia.

Post by DaS Energy » Thu Jan 23, 2014 4:49 pm

America is reported to have supplied Indonesia with 30 F-16 fighters, a dozen Apache attack helicopters, Russia is supplying a dozen submarines armed with cruise missiles, all to remedy against Australian Navy lack of navigation skills and the actions of Coalition Government.

No mention of that, perhaps you should share your sources with http://www.news.com.au/#from=ninbar" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yeah, this isn't even remotely newsworthy. Seriously, its the US and Russia, respectively the world's first and second largest arms manufacturers and dealers. Of fucking course we're sell arms to the Indonesian government.

That said, 30 F-16s isn't anything to wet the bed over. The Indonesian air force doesn't have aerial refueling capability. The only thng those Vipers are good for is point defense over their own air space. Meanwhile the RAAF has the latest F/A-18 upgrade, you've got aerial refueling, and you've got at least four Superbugs for every one of their Vipers.

Seriously, look at the sheer fucking amount of military arms sales we do with Australia versus what we do with Indonesia and this thread is fucking massive hilarity. We arm you with the best we have bar a few systems we sell to no one and we sell the Indonesians shit that you either have to be a close ally of ours or be US to use properly, and Indonesia is no where near as a strategically important to us as Australia is. Whose back you fuckers think we'd have in that fight, honestly?

Christ, any bets on which alternate reality DaS is from?

Indonesia is an ally anyway. The biggest danger comes from a few nutbags who try to blow up a few tourists every now and then, not the government.

For us Indonesia is a client. We do business with them, we listen to them, and we watch them closely. They have a strategic position astride the major sea lanes between the Pacific and Indian oceans. They also happen to host 1/3rd of the planet's Muslim population.

Look back on the last, oh... fifty fucking years of US/Islamic relations and US/Geo-economic history and guess why we spent more on watching Indonesia over the last ten year than we did on all of Europe.
