Truth is, while I haven't had any cigarettes (dark Drum rollies with no filter) or bongs, when I've got grumpy I have rolled the occasional leaf joint from a plant a short walk from my place.

Years ago I didn't have a cigarette for six months, but I did have a duffle bag of weed for a substitute.

In town (Bundy) for the day because I need a better tap & die set. The set I have I probably picked up
in a pawn shop or garage sale for peanuts and isn't up to the job.

In mid 2010 I bought a brand new Victor brand two stroke brush cutter. Second hand ones in pawn shops were
$270+, where as the new Victor was only $250 and came with a three year warranty. I know you only get what
you pay for, so figured it would be problematic/unreliable.

The Briggs & Straton (British) motor was strong/powerful, but everything else on it was junk, so bits of it
used to fall off and get lost in the long grass while in use. On one occasion it litterally shook the manifold
loose and the carby nearly fell off.I took it back for repairs under warranty numerous times, but the shop is
100km/60mls away, so often repaired it myself. Eventually except for two of three screws holding
the pull/zip start on, every external nut, bolt and screw on it was replaced by scrounging through my
tool boxes.

While in for repairs in mid 2011, the shop mistakenly gave me someone elses. Being two years older I
immediately recognised the reduction in power, but as it always started easier I kept it anyway.
In october 2012 that one required repairs, so took it back to the dealer. I was told the repair
would take three weeks. Every so often I rang enquiring to see if done, and kept being fobbed
off with the excuse "Waiting on parts from overseas .. waiting on a carby from America" ect.

In March 2013 I went to the shop and said "I brought a brush cutter in for repairs in October
last year, have been told over the phone numerous times you were waiting on parts. And since then
you have been flooded (Feb 2013), so I ussume all the customers stuff has been thrown out".
Counter staff said "I'll check". Returns and answered "That's correct". I queried "So I gather it's
covered by insurance?". Staff member replies "I'll check". Returns telling me "We're encouraging
people to claim on their own home & contents insurance". I said "Don't worry about it mate, I'll
buy a new one off someone else, and I'll never buy a Victor again. I had so much trouble with it
I figure Victor is now made in China". He replied "That model was"

So I bought a brand new Masport brush cutter with a blade {no more mucking around with cords, Yipee!}
and a Honda four stroke motor (Japs make quality stuff these days)
[for $500 that usually retails for $900] from a chainsaw shop's closing down sale, meaning I get no
warranty. It's been pretty good for the most part, I can mow trees with it,
but recently I noticed a change in exhaust note and then the plastic housing began to melt.
Upon inspection I discovered one of the bolts holding the muffler on had snapped down in a threaded
hole. I drilled it out, canabilsed a bolt from elsewhere, but can't get tap to cut the new thread in
the hole, so need a tapered one of better quality.

Not exactly sure why, but it seems Bundy cops don't like me being in town, and would prefer I stayed
in the bush. Pretty much every time I've come to town in the last couple of years, within minutes
of going near any of the survailance cameras in the main street/CBD, I have Ds following me around,
including into shops, and have paddy wagon loads of uniforms circling whatever block I'm on.

When/if I mention it to others, they tend to say I'm paranoid til they see it for themselves. When
asked "Why? ... What did you do?" I can only reply "I wish I knew". One associate joked "You must
be a bad man" and I replied "Apparently so".

Currently the mountain range to the East of my place is ablaze. At night it looks like Christmas lights
strung through the hills, and in the mornings the smoke blankets the valley like mist/fog. When the
fire's out, it should be a good place to hunt pigs.

Saw a meteor or asteroid shower last night (Wednessday eve). At 5 to 8 (7:55pm EST) a tightly packed cluster
of six or more objects with tails streaked from north to south and fizzled out about 30 degrees above my
mountainous horizon. Was all over within two or three seconds, but still spectacular to watch.

You can buy those little plastic tubes for wood - not sure about metal, but when the thread is gone - the grip from the tube holds a screw firmly in place.

If they suspected you of anything - they would have dragged you in for questioning. Maybe your neighbour has had a whinge to them or perhaps if he's still missing - they might suspect foul play.

The sights must be fantastic. Hope it lasts, particularly when mining gets going seriously on your land. Do you get any payment from the mining companies or can they just drill wherever they please for nothing?

No they won't drag me in for questioning because it would be a waste of time.
I've always been honest with them, but they nebver with me.
Whenever I've had to deal with them, they lie to me or about me or both.
So now they can get phuked, and I tell them nothing.

Theneighbor returned, and had a dispute with other neighbors while I was here in town last time.
Next day he starts patrolling up and down his access road, just being a nuisance, so I decided to
give hime a dose of his own medicine. I put my hunting cams on, strapped on my hunting kit,
which now includes a Swiss made 10 inch long double edged bayonet, and went for a walk with
my dog in the forest close to his back bounday. No closer than 30 metres and no further than
50 metres, so he could see me. He did, he put his wheel barrow down and watched as I walked
off up the hill into the bush and vanished from sight. Then circled around and went home, but as
far as he knew, I could have still been out there, maybe even watching him with my Russian military
telescope. Couple of hours later, he packed up and took off with his caravan. :P

Saw him a couple of days ago on the road going in the opposite direction, and he waved to me, so I waved back. :f

Ran out of meat and could not find pigs.
Caught yabbies, but were too small to eat,
so threw them back to the lake.

My quest to catch dinner looked grim, so ...

Come the following morn hill folk were off to town market,
and reptilians sought vengance for slaying their kind.
Sending five foot grey snake with pale brown head,
to invade thy hill top fort, known in this land
as Hoppy's abode.

Believing Hooded Taipan intent to lodge in thy walls,
I clad in thy footy shorts of armour stamped thee floor,
then cursed "Back, back ye serpent most vile"
and the snake sought refuge amoung the vessels
of motor oil in the corner behind the door.

Armed with thy trusty machete and can of IGA surface spray,
I did persecute thee snake, causing it to reveal
its yellow bellied identity of Eastern Brown.
Choking on the vapour most foul, the snake did retreat
to the long grass from whence had came.

I thank ye o Indepedant Groceries Australia
for thee weapon upon which thy victory was gained.

What an interesting life. One many would envy.... well for a short time.

To me you sound like you are permanently on a boy scout camp. :thumb

Monday Aprox 6:30am EST six cows and two calves walk through my place. Rang owner, but doesn't believe me, so I now have free meat down the back. Aprox 5:15pm EST lone black 60 kilo + boar wanders through my campsite while I'm at the donga on the hill and need to get past the pig to my caravan to access my hunting gear. That's one of those 'One that got away stories'.
Tuesday, aprox 11:00am EST saw red wild dog along road while returning from collecting firewood. Nearly all the wild/feral dogs and dingo crosses around my way are currently red like my dog.

Most people wouldn't envy the heat during the day. Is torture sometimes.

Yabbies make a very good substitute for King Prawns. I remember Dad making us a "net" to catch the creatures and Mum not allowing us to cook them inside .... tasted yummy though. Nothing like a large yabbie you have caught yourself!
