Yogi already gave up smoking, Mantra. He told us ages ago! Are you still smoking, Mantra? A little hypocritical if you are still puffing away and giving out advice to others, hey?

You didn't answer the question, Mantra? Most of us have been smokers at some stage. Have you stopped, yet?

I would still seek out a second opinion, Yogi. Lung cancer is very deadly and usually not discovered until it is too late to do anything ... then it spreads rapidly. Often people think they are having a heart attack with the chest pain .....Outlaw Yogi wrote:Thanks Neferti. The doc explained cancer/tumor is an extra growth where as I have a cavity .. y'know sort of like an ulcer.Neferti~ wrote:Glad that you are doing OK, Yogi. The lung thing sounds a little odd, plus the weight loss. Keep seeing the Dr and maybe even get a second opinion?
Tried getting appointments, but couldn't get an appropriate one. I will sooner or later, but feel fine. And sort of figure if I keep up the nutrients and vitamin C in particular, plus stay of the smokes, I'll be fine.
There must be other medicos around there that can refer you to a Specialist?
My Dad died from lung cancer, it was horrible to see him in so much pain.

Don't assume anything Neferti. I have neither lung cancer or emphysema and have no intention of getting them.Neferti~ wrote:

Mantra, as usual you are avoiding the question. Which is:mantra wrote:Don't assume anything Neferti. I have neither lung cancer or emphysema and have no intention of getting them.Neferti~ wrote:

ARE YOU STILL SMOKING CIGARETTES?
Yes or No.
PS. It is either/or and neither/nor.

Didn't know you were a smoker Mantra ... I haven't had a cigarette in years but sorely regret all the years I did smoke (casually) starting as a teenager ... Wonder if Annie still smokes ... I know she wanted to quit at one time but a nicotine addiction is fucking hard to break. After I quit I didn't go into a bar for 2 years (this was in Japan where bars are full of smokers) but once I got over that hump I never considered a smoke again ... once in a while though I would get that old feeling that "wouldn't a cig be great right now"' but I never actually was tempted ...

Mantra still smokes ... otherwise she would have said something. Like NO, I gave up.AiA in Atlanta wrote:Didn't know you were a smoker Mantra ... Just about everybody here has owned up to having BEEN a smoker. We are all very proud that we had the fortitude to give the habit away.
Tell us about Japan (in another thread). Fascinating country and I have never been there but wanted to go. I have a Japanese epal.

I'm thirty-six, and I've been smoking a pack a day since I was sixteen, so I've been a smoker longer than I've been a non-smoker. Only time I've quit smoking was when I went through basic training. Eight weeks of no smoking and the first thing I did when released after graduation was stop at a convenience store for a pack of Newports on my way to the airport going to AIT. No history of lung cancer on either side of my family going back four generations of smokers, and I'm pretty confident that we'll be seeing medical techniques in the near future that will make it irrelevant anyway.
And no, it doesn't effect my cardiovascular performance. You can solve that issue simply by exercising regularly instead of being a sedentary fattass.
Winners never quit and quitters never win.
