We should be realistic. Abbott has got off to a very bad start. Will he improve? We certainly haven't seen any sign of it over the years either during his stint as a Coalition Minister or that as a Shadow Minister.

Even former Coalition Foreign minister Alexander Downer has advised Abbott to "extend a friendly hand to President Yudhoyono". I don't believe Abbott's capable of it. He's a pugilist not a diplomat.
