Re: Carbon Tax Repeal
Another couple of points against Mr. Paine's argument.
He talks of switching federal money away from a proven technology that only improves in safety and cost efficency as the technology evolves over to investing in "innovative technologies". Ok, name some. Go right ahead and list any alternative/green energy generation scheme that can match the generating capability of nuclear that isn't hideous expensive, can't provide constant out put, can't provide the same wattage on an economic scale, or some combination thereof. You can't because no such system or technology exists. Well, at least until we figure out nuclear fusion.
Also, he forgets about economy of scale. The more nuclear station built the cheaper they become. The cheaper the lifecycle cost the cheaper the cost per megawatt gets. Another advantage is that as the technology become more common the safety systems and waste management also improve.
Speaking of waste management, nuclear recycling technology has come a long way towards solving this problem. Combined with investment in reactor technologies based of fission of actinide series metals besides uranium, particularly thorium cycle reactors, and you have a safe, high output, and cost effective system that no other power generation system out there can match.

Nuclear heating of water to Steam to make electricity involves the use of a Steam turbine.
“Tarong Power” generates 350 megawatts electricity from Steam of 200 bar pressure.
Pressure of Steam is measured in bar.
Steam to have a 1 bar pressure needs a heat of +100*C.
CO2 to have a pressure of 1 bar needs a heat of -40*C.
Steam to have a pressure of 200 bar needs be at +600*C.
CO2 to have a pressure of 200 bar needs be at +50*C.
CO2 to have a pressure of 10,000 bar needs be at +100*C.
Steam to have a pressure of 10,000 bar needs a heat not charted!
Steam turbine receiving a 200 bar force generates 350 megawatts electricity.
CO2 powering the Steam turbine makes a quantum leap in electricity production.
200 bar force (350 megawatts) into 10,000 = 50.
50 x 350 megawatts = 17,500 megawatts.
+100*C into +600*C = 6. 6 x 17,500 megawatts = 105,000 megawatts.
“Tarong Power” burns 240 tonne of Coal per hour per 350 megawatts.
Converting to CO2 reduces its Carbon emissions to 800 Kilo per hour.
Zero Carbon emission has fuel heating the CO2 to +50*C for each 350 megawatts.
There no need for Steam, and even less need that it be Nuclear heated.

Sorry DaS.
Do you have anything else that you find slightly interesting? You can start threads on all sorts of thing here, you know.

I never said you did. Are you like Jovial Monk and have no sense of Aussie humour? I was joking, mate! Calm down. Sit back, relax. Have a cyber beer or three. There is much more to LIFE than bloody carbon tax.DaS Energy wrote:I replied to immediate comments posted about Nuclear power. I did not start a new thread!

That's correct. Seems you have a one track mind, DaS. Fine. Carry on.DaS Energy wrote:Political Animal

Yeah, let's see the math, snapperhead. What's the volume of the system you're running that steam or CO2 through? What volume of steam/CO2 is in that system? Ect...DaS Energy wrote:Nuclear heating of water to Steam to make electricity involves the use of a Steam turbine..
Seriously, trying to claim numbers based on 100% efficiency as an Ideal Gas is fucking hilarious.

Not sure if you have worked out Das yet Chard, but he seems to think that the Australian govt has been emailed some wonderful technology that defies the laws of thermodynamics and are hiding or ignoring it because of [insert big oil and other tin foil hattery here] yet doesn't seem to want to explain this wonderful technology, how it works or manages to defy physics.

Re: Carbon Tax Repeal
Thanks for the heads up, bro, but I kind of twigged to Das having no goddamn ifea what he's talking about when he started yammering about CO2 being an effective kinetic transfer medium compaired to water based off of assuming th behavior of an ideal gas.
