Speak for yourself Neferti. I wish politics could be discussed rationally here. I'm interested. You're needed on this site as a RW advocate so impartial readers can understand what sort of person votes for a conservative government.
Abbott is a DOER, not a man who needs to be in the limelight, constantly. His wife and daughters would keep him down to earth. However, I very much doubt that Tony Abbott thinks of himself as somebody who can change The World. I think he is far more down to earth than that.

He will be a Great Prime Minister .... believe me.
Are his wife and daughters running this country? Abbott is a doer of all things physical. When he first took up leadership of the opposition it was apparent that he really didn't want the job, but only took it because he liked the competition. The competition is over now - he's won and he's bored and needs to move onto something else. He's an introvert, but probably has the intelligence to realise that he's not suited to the job. It wouldn't surprise me if handed the baton over to someone else at the end of the term.

Oakes has a vested interest in creating "news". plus his ALP source Rudd has nothing to say. I prefer a government that gets on with it instead of camera hogs and egotists.
Parliament hasn't started yet, when it does it'll be on TV every sitting day and political news will start to flow.
As for asylum sneakers... there is a report every week.

Remind me again why this thread is about the quiet achiever? How do you know he's achieving anything? Where do you get your information from?
Watch tv, read all newspapers, listen to talkback... etc, etc, etc...
You seem a trifle confused like you are not sure whether he is quiet or not, but he's not a one man government and not like Rudd or Gillard.

Speak for yourself Neferti. I wish politics could be discussed rationally here. It can and is... I'm interested. No you are not, not unless everyone agree with you. You cannot tolerate dissent and you make everything personal. You're needed on this site as a RW advocate so impartial readers can understand what sort of person votes for a conservative government. Lots of different types of people are Conservatives and your comment was irrational.

Are his wife and daughters running this country? No did anyone say they were? Abbott is a doer of all things physical. And a Uni graduate and a Rhodes scholar and a company manager and a journalist and a writer, etc. When he first took up leadership of the opposition it was apparent that he really didn't want the job, but only took it because he liked the competition. Rubbish just what do you base that on. The competition is over now - he's won and he's bored and needs to move onto something else. Rubbish just what do you base that on. He's an introvert, but probably has the intelligence to realise that he's not suited to the job. Oh so now he has intelligence, you can't have it both ways mantra, I doubt he is a true introvert, he does do public speaking. It wouldn't surprise me if handed the baton over to someone else at the end of the term. Based on what?

Canberra press gallery veteran Laurie Oakes says the Abbott government is "thumbing its nose at voters" through a lack of transparency and communication.

You can’t thumb your nose at the voters’ right to know and you can’t arrogantly say ‘we’ll let the voters be misinformed and we won’t help journalists get it right'. That’s just a disgusting attitude.

The respected Channel Nine reporter and political commentator told Fairfax Media that Prime Minister Tony Abbott and senior ministers were breaking their election promise of greater accountability for voters.
So what do you think? Is there anything to be gained by this continued silence? Or does it demonstrate contempt for voters? Or, are they hiding things? I certainly tend to think information about asylum seekers is being suppressed.

Bring on Parliament, where we can actually hear what they have to say. I might even watch Question Time for the first time in my life.
I saw the clip. The way Abbott snubs those trying to get a straight answer from him is an indication of things to come. A celebrity running from paparazzi might get away with it, but not a prime minister. He only had to give them a few words. Even Howard used to answer questions politely as did Rudd and Gillard, but not Abbott. His disdain for the public is obvious.

Abbott can't handle the job - that much is apparent.

I think to excuse Abbott by saying he doesn't seek the limelight is a bit specious. One of his promises was transparency, and you can't have that if nobody will speak to the press.

I also read that FOI requests are now being charged thousands of dollars under the LNP, whereas they were free under Labor. I get that they are time-consuming and that public servants have other work to do, but it's another example of this government trying to keep information from the public.

And as for the Canberra thing, I have lots of friends in Canberra who post political stuff on Facebook every day.

Really... but you're so biased, personally and politically, you get hung up on him being dressed as a lifesaver. I've never seen him runaway mantra. I've also seen Rudd and Gillard leave and not answer questions and Garrett and Swan and Shorten....

facebook? did someone say facebook? or twitter? give me a break... 140 characters of useless information. Only an idiot would post politics on facebook, for obvious reasons.

BTW no I didn't say information, I said I listen to talkback and if you did you may be better informed about public opinion and yes even confirmed valid information. I listen to UE, GB and wait for it... the ABC...

I don't mind listening to the everyday thoughts of regular Australians hebe.
