Did you check the date of the Age article that mentions 30,000? September 2010 :rofl :rofl

The quote from the above OLD September 2010 Age Article is below:-
'' 'We wuz robbed' would be precisely the wrong reaction,'' Mr Abbott writes. The Coalition won almost 700,000 more primary votes than Labor. But Labor won 50.12 per cent of the two-party preferred vote, putting it ahead of the Coalition by a wafer-thin 30,000-vote margin.
''An opposition that's only a couple of by elections or two independents' change of heart away from government has to be more than just a critic,'' he said.
The other link is written by a taxi driver named Doyle, same figures from the 2010 Federal Election.

Hebe, you are quoting figures from the 2010 Federal Election!!!! NOT the one that Tony Abbott won this year .... i.e. September 2013. :rofl The figures I obtained from the AEC where the Coalition was ahead of the ALP by 827,919 still stand. Ha ha ha.

Yes, Neferti, those leftards called Doyle are just disgusting. Terrible people. I did not know he was a taxi driver.

PATHETIC DOYLE PATHETIC!

Neferti can you have a look to see if that leftard is the same as the leftard who wrote this. They will be the same.

Mantra,

From this linkhttps://newmatilda.com/2013/09/24/thirt ... botts-gone
Barton (NSW) 493
Petrie (QLD) 971
Eden-Monaro (NSW) 1071
Capricornia (QLD) 1381
Dobell (NSW) 1189
Solomon (NT) 1492
Reid (NSW) 1490
Lyons (TAS) 1605
Banks (NSW) 3169
Braddon (TAS) 3398
Hindmarsh (SA) 3541

If Gilmore, Lindsay, Robertson, and Deakin are included, less than 30,000 voters nationally would need to change their minds for the government to change as well.
That's 15 "marginal" Electorates. How many seats did the Coalition win again, 90 wasn't it to the ALP's 55. IF the ALP won all 15 seats, say, that would give them 70 seats and the Coalition would have 75 seats. I think you leftards are just clutching at straws. The 30,000 votes is grabbing numbers out of the air

If Hebe was using the 30,000 margin won by the ALP at the 2010 Election as a "comparison" to what happened in the 2013 Election, the only thing that is the same is the figure 30,000.

You will just have to wait and see what happens in about 3 years time, won't you, instead of speculating and telling porkies?

I obviously did read the article despite all 3 of them being LW progressive rags. You should try reading articles in newspapers, etc. that give the other side of the story, Mantra, and educate yourself and keep yourself informed!!!

I would love to read the other side of the story, but to date there is no other side because the Coalition have wrapped themselves in a shroud of secrecy and taken a vow of silence. You don't know the other side either.

As far as telling porkies - try and be original Neferti. You used to be. I was pointing out what I assumed to be Hebe's purpose in posting those links, but it looks like I'm going to have to start pointing out just how thick you RW's are. It's scary to think that almost half the population voted for these idiots posing as politicians. They are snubbing the very people who voted for them. It is our right to be kept informed. Abbott won't be able to get away with it for much longer.

Oh fuck. I'm terribly sorry and I should have checked my dates. Who would have thought 30.000 would feature in more than one election?

Now that the dust has settled we can take a dispassionate look at the election results. The fact is that Labor did not suffer the resounding defeat that many commentators have suggested. The landslide argument doesn’t stand up in light of the figures. The figures simply do not support the assumption.
Fifteen of the Coalition’s new seats are held on very thin margins. Eleven seats have margins of less than 4000 voters. In essence the election was a lot tighter than was first proposed. In effect this means that it would only take about 30,000 people to change their vote to change the government.

The 15 most marginal Coalition-held sets and the winning margins are as follows:

Barton 489
Petrie 871
Eden-Monaro 1,085
Dobell 1,166
Capricornia 1,305
Reid 1,460
Solomon 1,500
Lyons 1,631
Banks 3,105
Braddon 3,380
Hindmarsh 3,573
Page 4,333
Gilmore 4,807
Lindsay 5,234

Add all those margins together and you’ve got 33,939. If exactly that number of the right people in the right places had changed their votes, the results in each of those seats would have been tied. Add another 15 to get 33,954, and you’ve got Labor winning each seat by a single vote and the Coalition losing its majority.

Apologies for the double post. I inherited an iPad from my mother which I'm using while confined to bed, and as you can see, I'm still trying to bend it to my will

Actually, you can halve those numbers, because if we’re talking about people changing their votes, each vote lost by one side is a vote gained by the other.

Ha ha ha. Oh well, never mind. It really doesn't matter what coulda shoulda woulda happen until the next Federal Election which is a several years away. The Coalition has been in power for almost 2 months and Parliament doesn't start until next week, then the fun should begin.

Regarding the marginals, who knows what will happen next election .... I don't have a crystal ball and nor does anybody else. We will just have to wait and see, won't we?

Don't forget that Clive Palmer won by a mere 53 votes! I doubt he will last until the next Election. The Coalition almost won another seat.
