Yes leftards, now another achievement. The first cabinet meeting of a new government has been kept a complete secret from the media. How marvellous. What an excellent job the current government are doing, giving the media the slip like that.
I mean, just think what a proud moment it would be for all the new ministers to stride through the doors of Parliament House, smiling for the cameras in their new suits and ties, clutching their ministerial briefcases. What a propaganda coup, what a statement. It would be all over the news, boosting their polls.
But no. Mr Abbott won’t have any of that. He’s just there to govern for all Australians. Mr Abbott, you see, has been humbled.
From now on, government will be conducted under a cloak of secrecy.
Take that, leftards. The grown-ups are back in charge.

He hasn't given the media the total slip because he's rat cunning. He's got pig faced Akerman and other RW extremist journalists onside to feed us rubbish about why he won't be talking to us like every other PM has in our history. That's what his Kirribilli House soiree was for.
What a dud - and they said Rudd was.

Your stupid leftarded opinion counts for fuckall.
Enjoy the next 20 years under the conservatives, not only because we are far more pragmatic and intelligent than you lot but simply because you leftys are complete fucking moonbats who would struggle to wipe your own arse unless there was a million dollar govt website giving you instructions.
I'm going to love all the wailing as the conservative slowly and assuredly implement their rule that dickhead leftys are going to be forced to live under and "shock horror" maybe help yourselves rather than helping yourselves to everyone else's money and freedom.
Whine all you like, we conservatives will just give you a big old "fuck you" and do what the real people want.
Suck it

The people thought they wanted what Abbott promised, but he started backflipping the moment he took office. Do we really want an Australia where you and your ilk trample over everyone else because of a few bucks? Sending live animals to underdeveloped countries where they can be slaughtered in the street by barbarians? Digging up every bit of spare dirt the miners can find - cracking and contaminating water basins in the process? Do we want the Chinese here buying up billions of dollars worth of our agricultural land and destroying communities in the process. Do we want award wages and penalty rates wiped etc.? Abbott is undoing everything that has been created to make us a civilised nation.IQS.RLOW wrote: Whine all you like, we conservatives will just give you a big old "fuck you" and do what the real people want.

Yelling "rubbish" is the sort of thing we need to keep out of Politics.Hebe wrote:
Just yelling RUBBISH is hardly an argument. And there is plenty of commentary around concerning the early failure of this government. I notice that nobody was able to take up the challenge of presenting an example of an achievement from Bob Santamaria jr.

I read about Abbott and Santamaria a couple of years ago. Definitely extreme. I haven't heard of Bob Jnr though - and could only find a Dominick Santamaria.Hebe wrote:I notice that nobody was able to take up the challenge of presenting an example of an achievement from Bob Santamaria jr.
Abbott worshiped Bob Santamaria.
He has been likened to a theocratic Taliban. No surprises he was a mentor to Abbott and taught him how to create a climate of fear. Santamaria sounds as though he could have been Howard's mentor also.Bartholomew Augustine (Bob) Santamaria was a political activist, ardent anti-Communist, committed anti-feminist and devout Catholic. While his intelligence and leadership always inspired enormous loyalty in his followers and admirers, he was condemned by his enemies as Machiavellian, destructive, even evil.
It became clear that Santamaria had been a crucial mentor for Abbott, ever since the early 1970s. As Michael Duffy remarks in his 2004 dual biography of Mark Latham and Tony Abbott, Santamaria’s effect on the latter was “immediate and profound”. A Catholic intellectual, Santamaria created an organisation known as ‘the Movement’. Using the idea of communist cadres, he had his followers infiltrate the unions to counteract their leftish ideology and to stop the spread of communism. He was president of the organisation from 1943 until 1957, when the Movement evolved into the National Civic Council. Even more insidious was his part in helping keep the Labor Party out of office throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He was a major influence in the formation of the Democratic Labor Party (DLP) – a breakaway group of the ALP. He hoped to siphon the Catholics from the ALP into the DLP, and attract the anti-communist vote.
There are people, like Abbott, who believe that Santamaria’s crusade against communism was a success. His major weapon was to create a climate of fear; he was constantly hectoring people with the idea that communists in Australia were buying up arsenals and guns in preparation for the revolution. Another tactic was to prophesy the end of civilisation as we know it. He likened Australia to the fifth century when the Roman Empire collapsed, and he viewed the Vietnam War as a crusade. Yet despite his anti-communism, he disliked capitalism, especially in its guise of economic rationalism. Santamaria’s ideal epoch was the Middle Ages and, as such, he wanted to turn us into a nation of farmers and cottage industries, with women permanently barefoot and pregnant. He vigorously opposed abortion and birth control. He blamed the Bloomsbury Set (Virginia Woolf and the like) for contemporary sexual decadence and the undermining of family values. As he became increasingly sidelined politically, his view of the world shrank to a hermetic and clammy chamber of religious and political certainties. Near the end of his 60-year career, he had doubts about liberal democracy, and in his wish to return to traditional Catholic values there was a touch of the theocratic Taliban about him.
