Ignoring Monk.

Tell me about WiDi. (Wireless Display) I am looking for a new "desktop" as this one is ancient and not worth doing anything with.

I have a Toshiba i7 laptop (only WiFi) but want to replace the study computer.

Everything I have "researched" ... towers and all-in ones ... are only i5s. The all-in-ones look great but ..... what happens if you want to upgrade something or fix it? If my Toshiba laptop needs fixing I know I just throw it and buy an new one. I only use it for browsing anyhow.

I am looking for a proper games computer and the only ones I find are a couple of places on line that will build them. Cost not a problem. Any recommendations?

I do NOT need a mobile phone.

Yes, I should have realised trying to start a thread not filled with bitching and whinging would have unfamiliar to the whine jockeys and gutless anonymous gaping vaginas. Good to see AiA allowing the anon cumguzzlers through moderation to be able to post in other than the vortex...

I haven't done any research on desktops recently, but if you are looking at laptops that can be used as gaming computers, there are a few around that wont break the bank. Heat is always an issue with most of them.

i5 for gaming should be more than enough as its the graphics card that bottle necks the high end games.
Make sure you go SSD (solid state drive) It is the best performance increase you will ever notice

I am the only person I know in business without a smartphone right now ... seems to me that many people that have them are suckers for the smug white Americans that have convinced the world they need them - all the time and in every circumstance. Many business people I meet can't keep their eyes off the smartphone for more than a minute or so.

The kids are worse. They sit around texting each other when the person they are "talking to" is sitting next to them.

I have seen the same thing at work. People emailing and IMing each other when they could talk to each other because they are within talking distance. Really pisses me off if they try that with me. typically small minded arse coverers. hate that.

lol a SN... I've experienced that before with the younger ones in my family... my way of dealing with it is to send them a text msg... "Y R U ignoring me? Have I done something wrong? Don't U like me anymore?" ... or something similar... That tends to work.

Got my super duper, you beaut, new desktop computer yesterday! It's taken me hours to get it the way I want ... as is usual. New OS - Windows 8.1, which is different to Windows 7 which I have on the Laptop. It's a real Games Computer (not that I needed it) i7-3820 Processor, 3.6 GHz, 32GB RAM, 2GB AMP Radeon HD7870 graphics card, 2TB HDD.

Strangely enough, my ancient Canon Inkjet i450 installed without a problem ... I was going to buy a new "all-in-one" but since I have $150 worth of B&W and Colour No 24 "cassettes" here, will use those up before I buy a new "throw away" printer.

The Windows Easy Transfer thing is very useful ... saves a lot of fiddling around!

Only one annoyance, thus far ... Win 8.1 doesn't like email with POP settings, so I had to get another Hotmail account. No matter, my Toshiba Laptop with Win 7 still gets email via my ISP address. All's well! :yahoo

NOW .... what games can I get? Any suggestions?
