Predatory Cabbies

I'm sitting here watching Ch. 9 (waiting for the NRL Grand Final) and checking in here as well, and elsewhere. I see 'A Current Affair' promoting a story about some Brisbane Cabbie willing to accept a 'sexual favour' in lieu of payment of the fare. A couple of questions, before we see the tabloid rubbish:

1. Who offered the deal.
2. Did anyone act under coercion and without consent.
3. Since when was it illegal to ask, no matter which party asked.
4. Who cares unless force/coercion was involved.
5. If you can't pay the fare (after you have arrived where you want to be) why bitch about the Cabbie, if he offers you a deal instead of taking you to the Cops (provided he does not make that part of the deal.*)

And no....I have never had the problem, and so far as I know, neither have any of my drivers.

I suppose so many cabbies get sick of people not having the cash to pay for their fares - that even if he had suggested it, he probably thought he was entitled to something for his time and petrol. People who jump into cabs without any money are thieves - and know that no matter what the cab driver does - he'll end up looking like the bad guy.

Years ago they were going to put unbreakable glass petitions in cabs for protection. Maybe some cabs have a petition, but they need to do something about security so they can lock the passenger in without themselves getting hurt and take them to the nearest police station if they can't pay the fare.

I see Aussie is yet in anther moral quandary because his partisanship overwhelms his psyche.

How sad that he throws moral guidelines away to excuse abhorrent behaviour simply because he is on the same team as the offender. No wonder the left side of politics is in complete disarray.

They stand for nothing and moral fortitude is an adaptable passing whim.

How did you come to such a negative conclusion when all Aussie was doing was dissecting a piece of news? Why is the cab driver always blamed and not the passenger who steals a free ride?

From his questions, you can already see he is searching for a positive angle for excusing turning women into cheap prostitutes to satisfy the sexual needs of disgusting smelly cab drivers.

Why not force these sexual deviants to pay women who would lower themselves to that level what they rightly would deserve. None of this "oh golly gosh, I see you don't have the cab fare of $25 Miss. Goodness gracious me, I think I have a solution"

The real solution would be for the cab driver to fork over $500+ for a drunken girl who they want to take advantage of...bet you wouldn't see too many of the smelly fucks doing that. They would and should prefer to take the legal and law abiding way by reporting them and taking them to the small claims tribunal.

But here we have a representative of the Queensland taxi industry, an owner no less looking for excuses as to why disgusting taxi drivers are allowed to turn all women into prostitutes or potential prostitutes.

He'll why not do what some cab drivers do? Get on the radio to your 'ethnic' mates when you have a passed out girl in the back and drive to a secluded spot where they can all have a go at mixing each others porridge on some poor unsuspecting girl for free.

Unfortunately there are shady characters in all industries. Even if it is two consenting adults - you can't afford these types of individuals to create more negative publicity for the cabbie industry. Women are already fearful enough to get into these cabs as it is.

Just out of curiousity - how do they recover the money when a passenger doesn't pay their fare? Does it come out of the drivers' wage? Written off as a loss?

Standard industry practice is that the Driver/Cabbie wears all the loss. However, I share it 50/50 with my drivers, which means I pay them half of what they lost from the runner.

I don't understand this. If the fare is $50.00 and the passenger offers some favour in lieu, who cares? Who loses? Well, only I do, as the Owner. I'll want my $25.00 in cash. We have ways of knowing if a fare has not been paid in cash, but the system is also very easily beaten by a determined thief/non-owner Cabbie. But, we digress.

We'll see the no doubt shitty programme tonight.

Okay....I've just seen the programme. Yeas, 'industry' will get all uppity, they have to. But fact is, no violence, no co-coercion, just an offer. Take it or not. Bloody hell, if the local butcher provides free meat in exchange for a sexual favour, no-one gives two "hoots." Let's bash the Cabbies.
