Obviously you haven't been reading the threads regularly harvey. Monk is mild mannered compared to a couple of the RW's here. The reason some of the RW's get upset with him is because they're not used to being abused. Ask any lefty here how much abuse they have to tolerate by the RW's.

On the contrary, I actually find JMs contributions entertaining and usually worthwhile (except the personal attacks, but JM is not alone in that area at all). I dont always agree with him but I dont always agree with all comments, but his contributions are 'food for thought'

To be fair I have been a lifetime NRA member since 1995. Much like blind squirrels can find the odd acorn, sometimes Monk can get something right.

I'm also an active marksman, hunter, gun owner, concealed carry permit holder, and a bit of a closet gun rights activist. For good or ill, firearms are a fundamental part of my country's culture and history. We tamed the land using the gun, won our independence using the gun, and expanded our nation with the gun (well, the gun and bilking the French, Russians, and American Indians out of their holdings on the continent). Depending on whose numbers you use upwards of 1/3 of Americans are registered gun owners, so the idea of depriving 90,000,000+ Americans of their right to bear arms because there's a .00000001% chance that someone might go crazy is ludicrous, and is entirely typical of the culturally and historically ignorant bullshit I've come to expect out of Monk.
