If Jews concentrate on business and professions, then no greater profession exists than the top job in the country..and earlier as treasurer of Australia..John Howard was a zionist.
I think you've hit the nail on the head Auzgurl. Howard may not have been Jewish as far as we can confirm - but he believed in and revered the Zionist doctrines...especially those that suited his purpose and outlook. You do not have to be a Jew to be a zionist -
There is something worrying about a prime minister of a liberal, democratic country who imposes values on his country's citizens and those who wish to become citizens, yet does not adhere to those values when he regards it politically expedient to ignore them.
This is precisely what Prime Minister John Howard has done in accepting the "honour" of having a forest named after him in Israel's Negev Desert and also the Jerusalem Prize for his support of Israel and its "values". And John Howard is in good company: Sir Robert Menzies and Bob Hawke -- both former Australian prime ministers -- also have forests in Israel named after them, as well as a former governor-general, Sir Zelman Cowen.
The naming of the John Howard forest was arranged by a quasi-private land agency, the Jewish National Fund (JNF) which deliberately discriminates against non-Jews in its allocation of long-lease agreements. This arrangement services Israel's apartheid policies aimed at bringing about the Judaisation of all of the land originally known as historic Palestine. The Israeli government relies on the JNF and international Zionist organizations to bring in Jews from abroad to settle on land forcibly taken from the non-Jewish inhabitants -- a practice which is discriminatory and illegal. Already the JNF holds 13 per cent of the land and now is currently advertising its "Blueprint Negev" as "A Miracle in the Desert". Only Jews will have access to the new development in keeping with the JNF's charter, which is focused on looking after Jews globally.

There are many religious Zionists, and early proponents of return to Zion in the 19th century were rabbis. However, the founders of the Zionist movement were not religious and the Zionist movement is not about religion or return to a "promised land."
Zionism is a political movement that includes many shades of opinion. Different factions of the Zionist movement have offered different definitions of Zionism that suit their purposes and outlook.

It was muslims flew those hijacked planes, fact. Wealthy young fuckwits from Saudi Arabia, fact.
Nothing racist in those remarks. My condemnation is about Islamism, not muslims.
I too wish people would stop worrying about who has the better imaginary friend.

Jews, Muslims, Christians, Atheists, there is enough hate to go around. Driving it underground will not cure it, the only hope is the pure light of free speech and reason.
Do not chain me on a cross of PC self rightousness.
Don't tred on me.

There isn't a lot of information linking Howard to being Jewish, although there is certainly enough rumour. Wiki states that he was born into a Methodist family, but he obviously had strong affiliations with Israel. He received an honourary doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in December 2008 for "outstanding statesmanship and leading role on the world stage in promoting democracy and combating international terrorism" and his "remarkable understanding of, and exceptional support for, the State of Israel and his deep friendship with the Australian Jewish community".
In that case I must be Jewish too. I'm a Zionist and I lived in Israel for 6 months.

The better I get to know people, the more I find myself loving dogs.

Given the current aggressive stance of Israel's government, do you still advocate Zionism?

Perhaps it is a naive comment Celetina, particularly with these new censorship laws being put in place, but the US media and much of our media is predominantly Jewish. As far as the pro-Palestinian stories - many of them come from Al-Jazeera and the remaining few other non-Jewish media outlets, of which there aren't too many left. I have no problems with Jews individually, but they have a controlling agenda the same as any other highly organised religion except they're smarter and more subtle. They tell us who to hate and what to buy and how much we pay for it. They choose the Presidents of the US and influence the leaders of the Western world eg EU, UN, G20. They own the World Bank & IMF and these organisations haven't just been created for altruistic purposes.
Pig's fucking arse mantra. Look at the authors of pro-Palestinian stories, few of them have Arabic names. Plenty of Jewish person-owned western media criticises Israel and supports Palestinian movements. Jews don't control anything except their own affairs, they do not choose who is President of the USA - the American voters do. If they try to tell us who to hate then they failed miserably with the worldwide support for Hamas, Hezbollah, PLO etc. You're skating on thin ice with JH connection too.
Better put on your tin-foil hate mantra - those nasty, controlling Joos a-comin!

Yes Celetina - thank goodness there are plenty of moderate Jews who do criticise Israel's actions against Palestine as well as those of the zionist movement, but most news stories about Palestinian attrocities are filtered by the Jerusaleum Post before they even gets to our shores and the real statistics on Palestinian casualties are not disclosed. Of course some stories have to get through - the media moguls aren't stupid and pretend to have some balance.
As far as choosing the President of the USA - favourable media helps most of the western world to choose their leaders and if you could be bothered to look into an organisation called the Trilateral Commission, you would understand that the basic agenda of world leaders and the way our countries are run, is largely due to the directions of the IMF and World Bank - arms of the Trilateral Commission.
But I have posted detailed information on this before and those who are blinkered prefer to ignore it. That's fine, but before you pass judgement on whether a story is inaccurate - you should at least educate yourself a little on the details to give you some basis for your denial.

I'm still trying to sort that out. I still support their living there, but not their actions.

Hebe - if you don't support their actions - then you are not a true zionist. The zionists proclaimed "support of the State of Israel" is only the headline of their agenda. As in all religions most of the ordinary people are good and it is only the doctrine of the organised political parties, their leaders and supporters we should be concerned about and how they go about achieving their ideology. This also applies to the Muslims, far right Christian Groups and similar.
