Multiculturalism
Multiculturalism: is working. Nice to see how Australia assimilates to all of the other cultures that are arriving into Australia, in particular the muslim and middle eastern way of life.
Immigrants are so grateful to being accepted into our country that they are insisting on Australians also adopting their former homelands cultures and core values. Their cultures are so nice that they must be spread throughout the world, especially putting women in their place!
But some immigrants can only associate with people who also respect and live by their same cultures and they must understand a female's place in man's pecking order.
Which includes a woman being traded and used as a commodity all in the name of the family.
Nice immigration arrangement, run to Australia for raising and grooming healthy daughters just to send them back to the homeland for a wedding.
Do women ever have a say in marriage in the middle east?

Re: Multiculturalism
That is unfortunate and there's not much we can do about it unless it's reported. I know there are some horrific stories that have come out of the UK in regard to honor killings, but the government there tries to be vigilant in regard to arranged marriages, but obviously many still proceed.babette wrote:Nice immigration arrangement, run to Australia for raising and grooming healthy daughters just to send them back to the homeland for a wedding.

Not all ME parents are so regressive. It would depend on their status, education and the extremities of their fundamentalism.

Re: Multiculturalism
Agreed, multiculturalism has failed, as has indiscriminate mass-immigration.
We need to slow-down our immigration, stop it all together for a period of time so our economy and infrastructure may recover.
Is it not rude to invite guests to your home for dinner though have nothing prepared for them upon their arrival?
With our real unemployment being at 13%..(contrary to Labors dismal pre-electoral rubbery ABS figures ) we need to be in a better place ourselves before we may invite would be 'guests' to dinner.
We should immigrate within our means, and not in accordance with globalist ideology/policy being dictated to us by the UN.
On the matter of multiculturalism, this is Australia, and if immigrants wish to migrate to Australia they should assimilate and be expected to form part of our existing Australian culture.
People who migrate with the express intention of altering the cultural fabric of a given nation they wish to 'occupy' is bad mannered and disrespectful. Not to mention socially in-cohesive and destructive.

Re: Multiculturalism
Although this occurred in another country, it is this type of culture that is being brought into Australia.
Please remind me ...why is this acceptable.
Is it religiously endorsed or religiously driven?
Yemen is mainly muslims (99%).
Surely this "culture" endorses and encourages paedophilia
Child bride dies on wedding night
AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girl in Yemen has died of internal injuries on the first night of her marriage to a man more than five times her age.
The girl, Rawan, suffered a tear to her genitals and severe bleeding and activists have called on police to arrest the "beastly groom" and the girl's family. They argue that the marriage should have never happened in the first place. Those protesting the girl's death hope the incident shines the spotlight on the practice of very young girls getting married in Yemen.

Re: Multiculturalism
Now we need groups to protect Australian born "ethnic" women from forced marriages.

Re: Multiculturalism
It would seem that it is not an uncommon occurance for a child to die from her paedophile "husband".
And these cases are only the ones being reported upon.
Yemeni activists have called for action after an eight-year-old child bride died of genital tears and internal bleeding on the first night of her arranged marriage.
The groom was five times her age, Kuwaiti daily Al Watan reported on Sunday.
The death occurred in the tribal area of Hardh in northwestern Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia.
Kuwaiti bloggers are now calling for the girl's family and groom to be punished, Gulf News reports.
Blogger Angry Man posted that the groom was "an animal who deserved to be punished severely for his crime".
Another blogger, Sad, posted that the marriage shouldn't have occurred, "even if some tribes believe that it is a good custom".
Activists hope the case would be used to help put an end to the practice of marrying very young girls.
In 2008, a Yemeni eight-year-old bride had her marriage annulled by a court after running away from her husband and filing for divorce.
But in 2009, a Yemeni law that set the minimum age of a bride at 17 was repealed as lawmakers deemed it un-Islamic.
In 2010, a 12-year-old died three days after her marriage from internal bleeding, and a 13-year-old died during labour.
A video released in July by human rights organisation Middle East Research Institute shows an escaped 11-year-old bride-to-be who spoke out after her family was forcing her into an arranged marriage.
