Democratic Labour party

Post by Rorschach » Thu Sep 05, 2013 2:05 pm

http://www.dlp.org.au/

The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) says it is neither ‘Left’ nor ‘Right’ as people usually understand those words in Australian politics. It says that, unlike the ALP, it is not dictated to by unions and unlike the Liberal Party, it does not seek to serve the interests of big business A claim a bit behind the times as the ALP also courts big business. So come on guys get it right time to update the site.
A basic element of DLP philosophy is that the interests of Australians may be best served by preserving, protecting and building on the family. It is a fundamental policy of the DLP to support a responsible elected government that will promote social and economic justice, a fair and decent society for families and a sense of national direction that will help to make Australia prosperous, self-reliant and secure.

Of course the DLP were part of the Australian Labour Movement and came about when Labor split.
The Democratic Labour Party (DLP) formally began in 1955 but was a part of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) before that date. We count the members of the ALP prior to 1955, including Prime Minister Ben Chifley, as part of our party’s history.

The DLP was the first Australian political party to promote many policies. Some of these were:

* The vote for 18 year olds
* Equal pay for equal work
* Equity in education funding
* An end to the White Australia policy
* Decentralisation of government
* Industrial democracy
* Responsible environmental protection
* Family tax splitting
* Support for life
* Capital Grants for family homes
* Portability of superannuation
* Diversification in trade
* Low interest loans for small business
* Enterprise profit sharing
* Producer/worker cooperatives

Ok, so far I like what I am reading, re- DLP.

But don’t get too excited, I am not finished yet...and I am yet to tally their preferences.

Sorry.... I preferred the original more grass-roots Democratic Labor Party.

It's just another Labor GVT.

They seem to have dumped their anti-communist stance.

Nothing democratic about this party, it's just another ALP faction.

What do you think of the following ....
