WA now has racial vilification laws and the first person is being charged for a Youtube video where he makes anti Jewish comments. Putting aside Jews are not a race, this anti free speech law is absurd. So the government is not only setting themselves up as lord of what we can or can not say it is also actively searching the Internet to monitor you and find you! CALLING BIG FUCKING BROTHER!

Who decides what is racial vilification and what is truth? Who is so godlike to determine what we can or cannot say? If I say many Aboriginals have a problem with violence where I work, which is true, is this racial vilification? If it is true why should I not be allowed to say it? Even if it is untrue they can rebut it, prove me wrong. That is what free people do. They do not jail people for an opinion.

We're governed by people who never had to fight for the freedom they have, who keep being voted in by people who have had freedom and all its benefits handed to them on a gold plate. Freedom is cheap to most people, in fact it's so cheap, they're practically giving it all away.

I have just done some research and channel 9 is wrong, an Aboriginal woman was the first charged with racial vilification and an assault some time ago.

She was acquitted; as well she should have been for the speech.

So I was wrong about the white male charge.

I cannot believe this idiot law ever got passed in the first place. Canada has them and it has been a farce, there are even people who professionally go around brining such cases (vilification chasers) claiming they are mortally offended by the speech of others and seeking monetary compensation.

It is PC idiocy at it's worse no matter who is charged with it.

I have been on a lot of Internet forums and have witnessed the mentality of the constantly offended, those who call for the speech of others to be censored or people to be banned. It is always the weak minded, those who have nothing interesting or serious to contribute to any debate. They just sit back watching, waiting to be offended so they can feel something for once in their life. They can not venture the real obligation of a free citizen, to enter the fray and rebut ideas they disagree with, they do not have the intellect for that, so they simply call to silence others.

As to the issue of racism itself, you will NEVER end it by driving it underground, by making people hide their racism, practicing it in secret with others who only validate their opinions. You can only change them (if you can) through vigorous challenge and debate of their ideas, and maybe, just maybe if they are allowed to say what they want to say and you provide them with contrary reason, you might reach some of them. But you will never change them by making them criminals simply for their beliefs, by turning them into martyrs of free speech.

Yes these laws have become out of control and driving it underground isn't a solution - because today it's impossible. People don't write letters anymore - so it will be very difficult to hide anything from the internet police. Rudd & Optus are now working together - initially in the Sydney to Newcastle area to trial a monitoring censor on Optus clients. If successful - it will no doubt be inflicted on the rest of Australia and used by other service providers.

This is just the start. We will have to learn to keep our mouths shut and even the Chinese have got a hold on our internet services. When you see these different search engines when you go onto a forum - they are Chinese owned services and they have a free rein over looking into every crevice of what we write - thanks to Google selling them so many of their subsidiaries.

Who left in the modern world would have a problem with Jews..perhaps a few died in the wool Nazi sympathisers, but they are becoming rarer...

My great, great grandfather was Jewish. My son is named after him. He was, according to family lore, a kind, wise, learned, humane and loving man. (My great gandfather was a complete bastard. I am a mixture of the two.)

Still, a person should be able to speak and say Jews are evil. The holocaust never happened. (It did you idiots.) No one is wise enough to determine what should be said and what should not. NO ONE.
