The Candidate dilemma...

So... you want to vote for a particular party... but their candidate is hopeless.
If you vote them in they are set for the next 3 years and probably for life.
They will probably while away their hours in incompetence, pigging out at the trough and emptying the public purse.

What do you do?

Most local candidates aren't crash hot, but you should look at their background for something positive. One positive is often enough and most of them have at least a couple.

I basically look to the local candidate first. I like to see that they actually do work in the community they are paid to represent. If they dont do that I wont vote for them regardless of what party they rep. I like to look at their history and like to see candidates that have actually done something in life, not been a political fluncky from the time they left uni.

So, I suppose to answer your question, I would not vote for a muppit.

Plough, with mandatory preferential voting your vote will eventually go to one of the 2 major parties or at least the 2 most popular candidates... given the muppet is one and the other from a party you do not wish to vote for... are you saying to avoid this you would withhold your vote?

Worst case yes. However given that most minor parties are full of muppets I would probably only vote for a candidate from the major parties! Lets face it these parties are so similar there will little diference to my life either way. I just want a local member who will work for my interests.

So my scenario is out of the 2 candidates with a chance, 1 is a muppet and the other is in the party I don't want to vote for.
What's the solution?

Informal vote or vote for the muppet because you believe his party will serve your needs better! Difficult choice!
