DETAILS for the first leaders' debate of the election campaign have finally been nailed down after a week of wrangling.

The debate will be held at 6:30pm AEST on Sunday at the National Press Club in Canberra.

Sky News political editor David Speers will moderate the event and a panel of three senior parliamentary journalists will grill the leaders.

The panel will consist of Lyndal Curtis from the ABC, Simon Benson from News Corp Australia and Peter Hartcher from Fairfax.

Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott will be given three-minute opening statements and two minutes to respond to questions.

Each leader will have three minutes in closing.

The event will be broadcast across the major television networks.

Have to congratulate Abbott for not telling Rudd to stop his bull and answer the question.

Great applause for Abbott in telling Rudd to put up or shut up about the GST scare campaign that Rudd is running his mouth off on.

Even an ABC (lefty) cannot control Rudd to answer the question on illegal boat people, instead Rudd wants to answer to GST

The 'worm' is of interest. Even before either one has said jack shit it goes from 'like' to 'dislike,' 'dislike' if Rudd is about to speak, and 'like,' if Abbott is about to speak. Watch for yourself.

Rudd asked the question: what taxes will you increase and what programs (expenditures) will you cut
Rudds answer: doesnt know but produced an economic statement last week, dont ask me to remember it nor ask me to explain it. But that economic statement will result in a surplus in 6 years. (OMG would anyone at all believe that surplus promise)

Rudd tries to win a point by asking why cut company tax.
Abbott reminds Rudd that Gillard advocated that anyone who is against a company tax rate cut is against jobs!
Rudd, again gob smacked due to his own ignorance!
