Isn't it possible for you and Roach to actually say why you disagree instead of telling someone to STFU? Seriously - what's the point of having a political forum if two of the main players can't verbalise a response. Tell Monk why you disagree with him - that's called debate.

No wonder this place has declined and now looks more like a cross between a tip and a dunny.

I post detailed posts, support my thesis with links—and get crap back.

Food for thought with an election due in 5 weeks.

It's a valid response to his bullshit. The reserve bank has consistently sited the need to return to surplus. The ALPs own policy is to return to surplus (not that will ever achieve it)

The truth is already out there and it is the consensus. Monk blathering lies and bullshit does not change that and it does not deserve an in depth response with the financial indicators that are freely available.

Calling blustering bullshit a "thesis" sets the tone for his posts.
It's a fucking joke.

Just to show I read your piece of shit post, roach.

Abbott never said he wants to return the Budhttp://www.ozpolitic.com/polanimal/posting.php ... 4211#getto" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; surplus? Is there no end to your mendacity? (look it up)

Let's look at who is lying eh Monk.

You never heard the ALP say they were going to be in surplus?
:rofl

August 2010, election campaign:

JULIA GILLARD: Well the better economic plan for the future is about bringing the budget to surplus in 2013. We’ll do that.... I’m going to get the budget to surplus.... I’ll get the budget back to surplus in 2013.

August 2010:

JOURNALIST: If you don’t make a, get the Budget back in to surplus in 2012-2013, this is a question to both of you, the cameras are on – will you resign?

PM: (laughs) The Budget is coming back to surplus, no ifs no buts it will happen.

August 2010, election debate:
Moderator David Speers: I think, Prime Minister, that Peter is seeking some sort of guarantee if you don’t get the budget back into surplus in three years, what happens? Do you sack the Treasurer, do you take personal responsibility?

Julia Gillard: It’s happening, David. Failure is not an option.

Speers: If it doesn’t? If it doesn’t?

Gillard: Well, failure is not an option here and we won’t fail.

Did I not say Swan/Gillard and Bowen/Rudd are wrong to talk of a surplus?

No real economic commentator has called for a quick return to a surplus.

As to Stevens, he has no authority to call for anything, given how wrong the RBA has been over the last 4 years:

1. Stuck to a rigid policy of NAIRU is 5%—that is not how NAIRU works.

2. Took no regard of the high indebtedness of the private sector

3. Took no regard of the Chinese economy slowing down, due to stupid austerity policies in Europe and then the UK. Now the Vietnamese economy is also slowing down.

4. Took no regard of the hit to confidence of the Libs trash talking the economy

5. Because of all these mistakes, raised rates one Melbourne Cup Day that it took until the next Cup Day to reverse.

But the private sector IS highly indebted, thanks to the idiots Howard and Costello fuelling a credit–fed spending boom. Borrow to spend, house prices rise, borrow to spend. Well, time to pay the bankers is now. Deficits will allow the private sector to do that. The low amount of net debt is of no concern.

No, she will win the 2013 election. 2 years surplus budgets, the compensation for the “carbon tax’ etc will see to that. That is why Rudd had to challenge now.
