The office itself should be respected. I may not like Julia but she hold the office of PM. The rank of office itself should have some respect.

The Americans understand the office of President commands respect not matter what people think of the individual.

She was given respect but through her own actions and rhetoric ranging from her hypocrisy, lies, back stabbing and efforts to demonize especially, she and the ALP have taken 'playing the man' to a whole new level.

Gillard is definitely no Keating. Keating was a PM with a vocabulary of a Street Kid. He was a Labor man with a Mouth and nobody asked him while he was PM whether he was gay. Has anyone asked him since?

Asking the mother of Keating’s four children about her errant husband and his various alleged bedroom escapades or the reason for the divorce was not something any of us wanted to do. And Anita was not the sort of person to kiss and tell, or take out her grievances in public.
