Before Labor even got into government - everyone was badmouthing Gillard because she was a plain woman. We would hear - look at her backside - look at her shocking dress sense - her voice is disgusting, she's not married etc. She didn't really get the chance to prove herself with all the petty and denigrating obstacles put in her path. She started off with a handicap and was never destined to become popular.

Some RW commentators are even saying that it will be impossible for Abbott to fulfill any of his promises because of the decrease in mining exports and so many companies crumbling at the moment, so when he gets into power - with his voice, his continual backflips and his worn out old budgie smugglers - he will know what it's like to be in the same position as Gillard. Maybe then he'll regret his vilification of her, but my bet is he will get twice as much back.

The situations is: govt debt is small and under control, hence our triple AAA rating. That is fact.

Another fact: private sector debt is high but is being paid off, helped by modest Budget deficits that return more money to the private sector than the govt sector takes. Low interest also helps.

Now a hairy chested attempt to put the government Budget into surplus has to involve spending cuts and tax increases. A Lib govt will likely want to boost the regressive GST, 5% more for the States, 5% for the feds.

They have already talked of sacking 20,000 public servants, chrissy Whine wants to sack nearly the same number of teachers.

A huge amount removed from the private sector. Households have to cut back spending, forget saving, businesses feel the pinch of the lower spend, go broke, sack workers and on and on it goes.

Good thing Tony Abbott will never be PM!

What do I THINK?

1. Monk will have an aneurism when Tony Abbott wins in a Landslide .... an even better one than when Gough lost in 1975.

2. Monk and Aussie will either go into hibernation or ramp up the abuse

3. They will become smelly, grumpy OLD MEN with absolutely no sense of humour

4. Gillard will be noted as the Worst Prime Minister and take over that tag from Whitlam.

5. LIFE will get better once Tony is PM. The sun will shine brighter, the rain will rain stronger, the sky will be bluer. The boats will stop. Those on the DSP will be re-assessed and those who claim DSP because they are too lazy, will give up their "permanent" Government Housing and let more disadvantaged families take over their 3-br brand new Government house!

6. Nothing will drop in price and they will still cull kangaroos in Canberra.

Oh, I will be prepared for Abbott PM, just glad that won’t happen.

Life would become pretty crap for a lot of people—it is clear Naffy has no idea how bad for how many, including herself and the income from her super.

The first round of austerity will make things worse so they will introduce a second round of spending cuts and tax hikes. Then when that doesn’t work they will panic. Dear god!

Have a read through some issues of the Irish Times. Youth unemloyment in the PIIGS is over 50% and the fucking Libs want to bring this here?
