WA joins Qld in recession

Dear oh dear. Not a good look. Vic not far from recession either and in NSW the Treasurer did not know there was a $1Bn amount not shown in his books.
WA not a good place to be unemployed, with Barnett raising utility bills 70%, probably by more by now.
Of course, if Tone gets elected then the whole nation will shortly be in deep, deep recession. The reform that is needed? Nah, the deadwood that is the Lib front bench has no idea of that.

Re: WA joins Qld in recession
Couple of pointers how Tone would go. Fairly slow at first, all populist—they will re-introduce the vicious TPVs which will see the boats crowded with wives and kiddies since those on TPVs can’t qualify for family renewal. That happened with Howard.
Tone reckons he will do away with the Carbon Price but keep the compensation. That is not sustainable, of course. But he will commission the idiot Costello to do an “audit” and Tone is silly enough, like Newman, to actually take the report seriously. Howard commissioned such an Audit but wasn’t silly and ignored it apart from using it for propaganda.
So what will be in the Audit?
1. A doubling of the GST rate, broadening of its base, with compensation paid to the wealthy. This is 90% probable
2. Privatisation because Costello has clients wanting to loot our public assets. This is 100% certain, know that from Qld.
3. Probably cut spending “to return to surplus” and increase in some other taxes. A Liberal mantra and, these days, code for austerity which means recession. A year after the Audit is handed down unemployment will have an “8” in front of it and the deficit will be larger. The world will be looking on in horrified amazement that a people would do this to themselves.
4. Work on NBN stopped as soon as possible, hopefully no worse than not issuing more contracts. #Fraudband will not be proceeded with—Malcolm Turncoat has flagged that today. We will slide down all sorts of international competitiveness ratings: business, health, education, productivity, growth, income.
5. By now even the Libs know austerity has failed what will they do? Either ditch Tone and proceed to stimulus but given the sheer amount of deadwood on the front bench (Bronny Bishop will still be on the front bench!) probably another round of austerity—75% probable, stupid is as stupid does. If they win big there will be a big number of backbenchers restive as LNP support ebbs as breadlines grow, if they win narrowly I can predict a second round of tax increases and spending cuts as 85% probable.
6. By 2016 I predict there will be the start of what will be a crisis by 2019—aging, increasingly frail Boomers clogging up hospitals and nursing homes. some Libs might even start to realise what they started by stopping the NBN—when will some be brave enough to raise this seriously? Well, my crystal ball is not good for too long range but given they are Libs—mutterings only if that.

It will be the same old same old. In another couple of years when we have wall to wall Lib states and a Federal Coalition - it will be Labor's turn again to undo all the damage caused by them.Jovial_Monk wrote:http://www.smh.com.au/business/wa-in-re ... 2nqh4.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Coalition are all past their used by date and those who aren't are just plain pigs at the trough. Everyone is in for a rude shock if Abbott wins the election - which is on the cards. Those who thought they were having a hard time under this government won't know what hit them when the dithering, stuttering Abbott is lumbered on us.

The idiot's minions believe that electricity prices will go down. All this means is less federal revenue and greater profits for the electricity providers.Abbott will be giving in one hand, but taking back twice as much in the other.Tone reckons he will do away with the Carbon Price but keep the compensation. That is not sustainable, of course. But he will commission the idiot Costello to do an “audit” and Tone is silly enough, like Newman, to actually take the report seriously. Re: WA joins Qld in recession
Yeah, electricity prices will not go down EVEN IF Tone rescinds the Carbon Price. Inflation, rising prices from state–owned generators etc will see removal of Carbon Price as a temporary, fleeting, slow down in price rises.
I didn’t go into Global Warming but some farmers will have to admit their properties are deeply affected—so what are they going to do? Walk off their properties? Invest in mitigation/adaptation—during a deep recession? Stop voting National Party?
