There are harsh penalties for drink driving. The penalty will largely depend on the result of your breath test. The higher your Blood Alcohol Level (BAL), the stiffer the penalties. Generally you will be fined and your licence will be suspended. A criminal conviction will also probably be recorded.

However, if your offence was in the lower range (you were only just over) and you have a clean record there is a better chance that you will not receive a criminal conviction. This is obviously a good outcome, as a criminal record can affect you in many ways, particularly in terms of future employment prospects as well as in security and background checks. It is therefore important to put a strong argument before the court to try and prevent this from happening.

Yes, Credlin is yet to have her day in Court (gonna luuuurve all those cameras harassing her).....she will plead 'guilty,' and yes (assuming ACT Law allows) it is possible, yet highly unlikely (here in Qld) that she would not have a conviction recorded.....but, if one is, it is NOT a criminal conviction. It is a conviction for a regulatory offence.

Allegations that former independent MP Richard Torbay and a senior policeman made an unauthorised visit to a prisoner in Armidale six years ago have been referred to the inspector of the Police Integrity Commission (PIC).

A parliamentary committee asked the Police Integrity Commission about the allegations, after media reports detailing them surfaced in the wake of Mr Torbay's sudden resignation from state politics.

It was reported that Mr Torbay and the Local Area Commander, David Cushway, met Armidale property developer Phil Hanna in his cell, hours after he had been charged with attempted murder.

From my experience you get your fingerprints taken when you're charged, not when you're convicted. So if she was charged, they'd have her prints.

Fingerprints are NOT taken for DUI in the ACT. She will go before a Magistrate and probably get a warning. Check the ACT Police site.
